SUU Game

SUU is having a great first year in the BSC. They are proving themselves to be one of the better teams. They are an excellent rebounding team and are playing with confidence at this point in the season.

They keys to this game will be rebounding and defense, as usual. Right now, our defense is playing at a high level. After a poor rebounding game against UNC, we bounced back against UND and got the job done. Hopefully, lessons were learned and we carry that into Cedar City. The key matchups are on the wings. If we play like we have been playing, we win. However, it will be a much closer game.

75 - 68

It's gonna be a tough one for us, dont look at thier other games, because every game every week is different.

I'm thinking we win by 10 at the most.

This will be much closer than our previous games. SUU is a much improved team this year with their new coach. RPI Forecast shows that Weber will be a 16 point favorite, but I see this game being a 5-7 point win for Weber. They will have to hit their free throws (which they did on Saturday) and be patient and let the system work.
Weber wins if they play team ball within the system - Weber loses if they go playground.

To go with the team ball, a strength of this team is our defense that creates transition baskets. We have to clean the boards and get out running.

We went 20-24 for freethrows last saturday, that's like the best we have done in a game all year.

Freethrows will be key in this game, I have a feeling we wont be getting many @ SUU so making them is key.

If we play the way we did Saturday, we very well could blow them out, but I think it will be pretty close.

weber is 22-6 vs suu and 8-4 in cedar. we are really good this yr. this isn't the year for us to lose @ suu. i say we win by 15. we have won 2 in a row in cedar (09, 11) and our last loss was 07 down there. 07 won the big sky, no disrespect to them but '13 team is better.

if we play our game to our potential we do not lose.

How on earth did SUU get to the line 42 times? Okay, we all know how bad the Sky's refs are, but this season they have been abnormally bad. Saturday's examples were perhaps some of the worst I have ever seen. Pathetic!!

We have to remember that they went to the line 42 times and they were not even home, they were playing in the Walkup. So anything can happen.

14 of the 42 went to one player. That player got POW with Bam. I would say, they should have split it 5 ways. You know, give the refs their props.

Every year, it just hurts the BSC when we get to post season play and get frustrated when we don't get all the tickyTac fouls that we have come to expect. Our refs need to grow a pair and not always jump to the whistle in anticipation of something they think might happen. We really don't show up at the games to watch them. Many of them think we do, and that may be why attendance is so pathetic in the BSC. :yikes:

Speaking about lots of freethrows, Sac State went to the line 55 times last night in a 64-59 win over SUU in Sac. Thing is, Sac missed 26 of them. :yikes:

Last night, SUU got paid back a little. SAC shot 55 free throws to 21 for SUU.

The interesting part here is that SAC shoots 55 foul shots and still only scores 64 points total.

WOW!!! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

FULLERTON!!! Freaking get a handle on your refs!! This is becoming embarrassing.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!! Only scoring 64 points when you shot 55 FT's is even more embarrassing than the conference's awful refs.

So will Weber still be wearing thier Purple road uni's? By the sounds of it SUU will be wearing red?

I actually like that Idea, I think it would be cool if Weber and SUU both would wear thier dark uni's everytime they played each other, Including football.

This is a little tougher game to predict than the last two home games we had. Man for man and pound for pound Weber State should clown stomp SUU by 20+ points. SUU has some size in the post, but nothing that scares me or makes me think our bigs cant handle theirs. Their two best players are Stevenette and Huir. Both are solid. Looks like Berry and Bamforth will be the ones matched up with them. SUU turns the ball over a ton and Weber State is very good at on the ball pressure. I see us getting lots of steals and easy buckets in transition. SUU fouls a lot so free throws are going to be key in this game. SUU is a pretty good rebounding team so our bigs need to be phyical with them. They don't have much of a point guard and you can tell that hurts them. Probably a reason why they have so many turnover. I can see Richardson, and Wheelright having very good games Thursday night. My prediction is SUU comes out aggressive at first, but our overall better talent and depth wins the game going away. Something to the score of 79 64.

In reviewing most of the recent game stats and comments from coaches, we should be at the line a lot. These guys grab, hold, hack and push all game long. Hense, SAC's 55 trips to the line. SAC is more athletic. The only way SUU could stay with them was to hack often and hack hard. That may be their plan against us as well. They can't hang with us athletically. I just hope nobody gets hurt. SAC didn't hit their FTs or it would have been a 30 point blowout.

If we hit our FTs, we win by 20+. If we don't, they will just keep hacking. They know we will beat them if they try to play us strait up.

We will presure their guards and rely on our bigs to hold down the paint. We haven't been doing it lately, so I think we may pull out the 3/4 court zone, 1/2 court trap, and maybe a little matchup zone. I think it just depends on how the game is going. If our regular, presure man, D is working, why change. :twocents:

Their place will be soldout. This is their biggest game of the year. Just make your free throws, baby.

When SUU hired Nick Robinson, I knew instantly what type of team the T-Birds would become. Not saying that Nick is a dirt bag or scum type of coach. He just expects his players to be tough, but he takes it to an extreme with his desired style of play. I like how Rahe coaches. Yes, we are tough and won't back down, but he doesn't want his players being sooo tough that someone gets injured in a game. I think the T-Birds will improve over the next few seasons, but if they have to improve through the methods being employed lately, then it isn't an improvement at all. Class, character, fair style of play are elements of our game that Weber State fans should be extremely grateful for.
