OK. We know they played us tough in Ogden. They shot better than they have all year. Will they shoot as well this time around? I hope that our D will be better this time. We may want to zone them a little. However, I said that about the last game and it never happened.

What do I expect from SUU? I don't believe they will change. They will grab, push, hack, hold, elbow, scratch, punch, gouge, trip, and do anything else to try to frustrate and take you out of your game. You can't let their bush league tactics get to you, even if the refs don't call it. The refs can't see everything, and they get tired of blowing their whistles 300 times a game. I'm hoping that we will have a crew who will, at least, be consistent. I think that we will be much better prepared to play them this time around.

We win a close game. 72 - 65

I expect another hack-fest, and Weber should be at the free throw line a lot....make the FTs and we avoid the last 2 minutes of muggings.

SUU has some shooters and you know they will be up to knock off the #1 team in conference standings. Playing defense to take a way the 3's and battling hard for rebounds and we come out of Cedar City with a W

I dropped in on practice today. In trying to simulate the SUU defense, they instructed the scout team to grab, hold, push, knee, and use assorted other, football, tactics that they expect to see. When guys thought they were getting fouled, they would explain to them that the refs probably would not be calling it, and to just play through it. There were a few bandages handed out at that practice. When the scout team couldn't get physical enough, the coaches would step in and use the blocking pads to ramp it up a bit.

We are going to Cedar expecting a 5 on 8 war. We are also going well prepared to face the tactics they deployed in Ogden. The zone, the pressure, and the doubling on the post. It will be interesting to see if SUU has added anything else to their arsenal. I think that we are ready to attack what they showed in Ogden and against other teams since then. It would be nice if we got a strong officiating crew, but it is not likely. :wall:

We are playing better now than when we last played them. In that game, SUU may have played their best game of the year. If SUU can play their very best again, they could make a game of it. :twocents:

This is going to be a grind it out kinda game, the key to this game will definetely be MAKE YOUR FREETHROWS. Of course staying out of foul trouble, playing defense and limiting turnovers would be great as well.

SUU feels they probably should have walked out of Ogden with a win, they will be more than a little amped for this game tomorrow, so we need to be on point, here is hoping our shooting is on cause Im sure SUU will come out playing a Zone, our shooters are gonna have to step up. Lets leave Cedar City with a W

GO WILDCATS

J Rich, his free throw percentage has really dropped the last few games. He is now shooting a mere 68% from the stripe. He can and must do better.

A senior shooting/point guard should NOT be missing free throws and as many wide open 3's that he has been missing as of late, true he had a great night against UNC, but we need more of that from him. He went 0-8 vs Sacramento, including 0-7 behind the arc, which most of were wide open.

He is a great defender, but we need him to score as well.

It just seems that Jordan hasn't really been that comfortable this season. He still brings it and does his best, and is the best on guard defender the Cats have, but his offensive production needs to improve; especially from the Free Throw line.

By the way Wildcat...SUU shouldn't have left with a W earlier this season. They were lucky to keep it close. Weber earned every single freebie and probably should have had more than what they got. SUU was wrestling and playing rugby while Weber was playing basketball. I just want to see a far more aggressive Weber team in Cedar tonight. A 20pt win would be awesome!!

Ken Pomeroy statistical model has Weber winning by 12, with 90% confidence level.

I think this game will directly reflect on the officiating crew and how they call things. The game in Ogden had so many whistles, due to mostly the style of hacking defense that SUU employs, that neither team had any rhythm. In some games refs will swallow their whistles for a while to allow the game to flow, so it doesn't go 5 hours with all the clock stoppage.

If we see a certain Jimmy C reffing tonight, the prep for the "8 on 5" that Oldrunner mentioned will be fulfilled.

My prediciton: Weber 74, SUU 60

What if we come out and press them hard and try to fluster them before the Nick Robinson hack show begins. He is the coach I have the least respect for in the Big Sky.

I agree, I believe that JR is one of our best defensive players, always brings his game, all I want is for him to score more, he needs to settle down and let em rip.

Im not saying SUU "should" have left with a win, Im saying SUU "believes" they should have won. It took almost 3/4's of a game for us to get a lead back. I also agree, a 20 point win would be VERY Awesome.

Haha, SUU displays fouls with the score and clocks on their broadcast. I haven't noticed it on others. They display it with pride!

Hehe, go Bullom Boy! I swear the broadcaster was pronouncing it correctly at the first of the game. Go Joel!

Speaking of which, no one ever answered a previously posted question:
All other things being equal, what would you rather get out of Joel 20/10 or 10/20 and why?

I want 10/20. We can get scoring elsewhere. Teams rarely lose when they have a single player with 20 boards. You can lose when a player gets 20 points. 20 boards means someone is cleaning your clock on the glass.

If I could have it, 20/20! But seriously, 10 pts. and 20 boards. Joel is a big, and boards need to be his focus. If he gets his 20, the points will follow.

Glad to see a good win on the road. Hope to see a repeat on Monday
