Does anyone have anything on SUU? I'm scratching the bottom of the barrel for information. They seem to be a very on/off team. If they come out flat, we should spank them. If they come out fired up than we are going to have a tough ball game on our hands.

Some stats:

Rush Offense:
EWU - 146.4 ypg/4.0 ypc (8th BSC)
SUU - 77.9 ypg/2.7 ypc (11th BSC)

Rush Defense:
EWU - 154.4 ypg/3.9 ypc (7th BSC)
SUU - 190.6 ypg/4.6 ypc (11th BSC)

Pass Offense:
EWU - 269.0 ypg/55.3% (5th BSC)
SUU - 269.9 ypg/60.7% (4th BSC)

Pass Defense:
EWU - 209.1 ypg/63.3% (2nd BSC)
SUU - 246.5 ypg/65.8% (11th BSC)

Sacks/Sacked:
EWU - 20/16
SUU - 18/28

Turnovers (season):
EWU - +6
SUU - +12

3rd Down % Offense/Defense:
EWU - 45%/43%
SUU - 37%/48%

Thanks for doing the homework! I'm afraid I was being a little too broad though. I was talking along the lines of: players who can cause us trouble, offensive strengths, matchups, and formations.

Well their strength is definitely through the air, with a big 6'5, 230 QB transfer from BYU who has a strong arm (much like Padron)... only a lot less mobile (-53 rush yards). He doesn't appear to have any standout WRs to throw to; he spreads the ball around a lot. WR Mitch Jessop (6'4, 202) averages the most yards per game and highest average per catch (74ypg/15.7ypc). WR Fatu Moala (6'2, 183) appears to be the go to guy in the red zone, as he leads the corps with 45 catches and 6 TDs. Their top RB is averaging 4.1ypc, but only 61ypg, and only has 1 TD on the season. Their run game is pretty much an after though akin to ours last year, with a very weak OL (28 sacks  ).

On defense they are very young. Their most productive player is a true freshman LB from Vancouver WA ( ), Zak Browning (5'11, 215). He has almost 30 more tackles than anyone else on the team (81), 3 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, 2 passes broken up, and 4 forced fumbles. Sounds like a young JC Sherritt... They have 9 INTs on the year, so Adams and Padron will have to be careful. Their 3rd leading tackler is a 6'3 redshirt frosh CB named Miles Killebrew, so I'm guessing he'll get matched up with Kauf. He leads the team with 4 passes broken up. They're weaker against the run, and can be gashed just like UND. We shouldn't have much of a problem moving the ball and scoring on them, as long as we're smart and protect the rock, because they force a lot of turnovers (23 fumbles - 13 recovered, and 9 picks).

We are the number 1 team in the country, SUU is a middle of the road big sky team, these are games we have to win and always have. SUU throws it well but our secondary is really good, we win by 14 +...forte has a great game

If memory serves me right, I seem to recall they play a base cover 2 and a 4-3 alignment. It's really quite similar defensively to what we run. Offensively, they used to do a lot of single-back, with either a TE or 4-wide. Last time, they were sending a lot of receivers out on crossing routes trying to dig into the layers of our zone coverage. If we can keep our safeties and LBs in the zone and still find pressure with our DL, we should be just fine. Sorenson is a great thrower, but he doesn't like to escape wide and get upfield (although he can if necessary).

WOW that is a lot of points. I hope they are right tired of all these close games . . . I finally grew back my finger nails.
Just curious where are you getting your information for the line on the game?

30 minutes until kickoff. QB Vernon Adams will get the start yet again, but Padron will likely play also, depending on game situations. RB Jordan Talley is still out with a concussion. LB Zach Johnson also sitting this one out, but will more than likely be back next week for the big game against Cal Poly. Bright in sunny in Cedar City, great weather for football! GO EAGS!!

15 minutes! Let's do this!

Listening to the pre-game show. SUU +12 in TO's this season, very impressive. With those kind of numbers, you're not just getting the lucky fumble recovery here and there - you're creating those TO's.
