Tailgating

Does EWU have any tailgating traditions? Are there any bars in the area that folks go to before the game? Where do the students consume the most alcohol after the game? How would you rank the tailgating experience at EWU,compared to other Big Sky teams/

At this point 50 people have viewed this with no responses. When someone comes in out of town, locals usually give you information. I don't want to show up if you won't tell me about tailgating. Is this a foreign concept in Cheney?

There's tailgating - just nothing like you've experienced at SMU or even at BLM's high school games. Big games will fill the upper parking lot behind the stadium. But mostly it's about 3/4 of that lot that gets some tailgating and parking. If you want the experience you're used to - the the first home game is the game to hit - against Montana, though beware, it's majority Montana fans. In fact, the Montana fans fill up a whole other section on the lower lot as well as the other side of the phase. This is the game where you will see THE MOST EAGLE fans tailgating all year. There will be higher attendance the first couple of home games, due to the red rug - but if we're not winning later in the season, or aren't going to make the playoffs - both the tailgating and, this should go without saying - attendance fall drastically.

If you're hitting the game in Seattle against CWU - there will be some, but due to all of the ongoing construction around Qwest Field - it's hard to make it work. Perhaps someone with the EAA will organize something?

I think RTR described it pretty well.

However, tailgating at Homecoming is also pretty well done, though certainly not on an SMU level.

Good folks, good food, good times.

I would also add that the weather is a big factor. I can leave Spokane's South Hill at 60 degrees and sunny and freeze tailgating because of the wind. This has never stopped me. I still have a great time. I just dress warmer.

Anyway, if we go any where before or after a game we hit the Basement or run across the street to the old Eagle Pub. The Basement offers a shuttle to and from the game to the Basement. Normally, I like to tailgate for football and hit these two places for basketball.

Thank you guy's soooo.... much. I was getting a little worried that there was no tailgating at all. I don't expect it to be anything like SMU "On The Boulevard", but I'm really excited. I might appreciate it even more. I will be at the Montana game and really looking forward to meeting y'all. Go Eags.

A friend of mine does it up right and his tailgait has been dubed "Grillz Gone Wild". I am sure that if you stoped by and introduced yourself he would be more than happy to share some good food and drink. Go Eagles!!!
