Televised Homes Games on CW 31

Very appreciate the TV coverage by CW. A huge step for Sac State football.

and the hornets were fantastic tonight. We truly have a great football program and look forward to next week and a great battle at San Diego State with coach Sears and all the coaches and players bringing home a victory

Yeah, the production and camera coverage weren't top notch at all -- but I'm not gonna complain because I appreciate the fact that CW31 took a chance and put the Hornets on TV to begin with. So the coverage was good enough for me. If/when the Hornets are a big enough draw that they are on TV every single week --- then I'll be more critical. ;)

We got the tv deal because of the 7-4 record, and the expectation of a good season this year. In 2014 we didn't get a tv deal, or want a tv deal. The expectation was not good in 2015, we went 2-9. If we go 2-9 this year then the tv deal was a bad idea. I don't expect this to happen.

LOL

Yup. Don't like the coverage, buy a ticket and go to the game. I left the game in the late 3rd qtr and caught the last bit of the game in a bar, looked fine to me (no audio though, so maybe that is why  ).

I feel like we gotta stop with the “I’m just glad...” stuff in regards this university’s athletic program if we ever want it to grow.

Am I pumped CW31 picked up the games? Sure am, told loads of people and pumped it up to my friends.

Was I so embarrassed with the quality, which included badly misspelled words, including a graphic I’m pretty sure said CW30 instead of CW31 that I regretted the recommendation? Yes, it was so bad that I thought Aaron Garcia was snorting coke with all the sniffing and dead air (Aaron, if you are reading and it’s a medical issue, my bad. Otherwise might wanna have that looked at.)

If you are gonna do it, do it right. And this was a high school level broadcast, not something shown in the 20th largest market in the country. This is about marketing yourself as a school and a program.

This broadcast wasn’t for us, it was for the casual fan sitting at home who has no idea about Sac State football and it came across bad to me.

Maybe we "won't want a TV deal" for 2019.

I haven't and won't watch one of these broadcasts (I plan to see all the games live in person), and I agree it would be nice if they were executed really well, but I fall in the "TV is better than no TV" camp. If we can get a TV deal for '19 (assuming we want one of course  ) hopefully things will improve. Bottom line is that this is a good problem to have. :twocents:

The production quality stunk, which was surprising given that 31's coverage of the RiverCats, while not MLB quality, has been much better than this. Was this Garcia's first game ever in the booth? He was horrible as a color commentator. The moving over our regular radio guys to do a radio simulcast would have been much better.

That said, I was VERY impressed with the on-field performance of our Hornets, even granted that we were playing an NAIA school. This was a potential trap game in that St. Francis is the defending NAIA National Champions, and our guys did VERY well. I believe that the first three Sac QBs directed TD drives. You don't see THAT very often, even when playing on the high end of a "body bag" game. I hope this continues.
