Just a quick reminder to posters...please keeps your comments about the topic and not each other. Thank you.

That sounds like some prison rule, how are posters going to find out how credible something is without questioning a post!? Dont look at anyone, dont talk to anyone, dont post anything that isnt directly related to the title of the thread... Come on!

Other BSC boards are way worse than this one. If posters arent allowed to question one another or have friendly disagreements you can bet on membership declining fast!

This is an issue that has bothered me for some time, moderators are not babysitters!

Attack the post, not the poster. You can do it civilly when questioning someone you think might have some credibility issues. Its all in how one phrases a question to one another.

boulders or not, i truly hope TD can contribute. but i, like others would question why such a talent would be let go? and what's with the HS highlight video to showcase his talents - no UW or Pop Warner footage available? i thought it was funny that the one game missing was the napa high game (Croxdale: 28/268, 4 TD's, Dailey: 16/73, 0 TD's).

at the risk of being called a 'fanboy' again, i don't know why everyone is so jacked about such a talented guy who was jettisoned - rather than a guy like Crox who keeps his head down, worked his way up the roster from a scout team tackling dummy, made the big sky academic team, is so ho hum? hope springs eternal, i guess.

go hornets!

Though you are definately a Croxdale fanboy, I can't say you're entirely wrong here. I like Croxdale. He's a hard-worker, nice kid, gets good grades, very blue collar. But he's not a back that can carry the load for a DI school IMO. He's a very nice change of pace guy. He doesn't turn the ball over and doesn't fool around when he gets the hand off. He also tremendously improved his 3rd down pass blocking last year and the season progressed. Drawbacks though include a lack of speed for his size (Charles Roberts was small, but he was a burner), and average pass catching ability out of the backfield.

Last year against DI FCS competition here's Croxdale's numbers... 64 Car, 214 yds (3.3 YPC)

Last year against DI FBS (Pac-10) competition here's TD's numbers... 75 Car, 338 yds (5.2 YPC)

Granted, both sample sized are small, I just see more potential in this risk/reward scenario with Terrance Dailey.

MORE potential in Dailey this risk/reward scenario? though he saw some action last year, Dailey:

1. had a hip pointer injury
2. shoulder injury
3. shoulder surgery
4. skipped out on physical therapy and was AWOL for 2 weeks
5. academically ineligible
6. kicked off the team
7. lost his scholarship, and
8. reportedly throwing boulders off an overpass (WTF?)

what potential do you see, for him to get kicked off his second football team?

i followed Dailey in high school football and track, and i know he's a talent when he's healthy and has his head on straight - but right now the dude would need a posse to carry all the baggage he has. i wish him well and hope he can overcome everything in front of him. if he does, the hornets will be all the better.

as far as carrying the load for a DI school, the reason Croxdale is still in the mix is that he has been dependable, durable, and hasn't gotten injured, knock on wood. he may not have the flash and raw talent, but Crox can get the job done, keep the ball in possession, and be dependable. with all the backs that have gone down, ineligible, etc., that's a bigger reward in my book.

I get where you are coming from. TD has apparently had trouble in some of his decision making, but remember, he is still young. I am sure all of us have done things in our youth that we regret. Let's just hope that he has hit is bottom and realizes that he needs to make the most of his second chance, becuase he may not get another. If he has done this, he could be a real gem for the Hornets. I agree with all that it could be real exciting to have the three headed monster of TD, Croxdale and Wilkins.

Boulders thrown off an overpass was not TD. It was two clowns who were on the Mooshiagian team. They are now in prison.

my bad - i just saw talk of TD, then GCM's reference to the boulder shot putting incident...so i retract my #8 from my previous post. yeah for prison!

I'll have to agree with ficky on this one. Coaches preach scholastics, charater, work ethic, and intergrity and supposedly place a high value on these traits. Crox has displayed all of the above. I don't understand why a staff would bring a potential cancer to the program. If it works great! If it doesn't, lose the respect of all players with the traits listed above. Now you've established a double standard, live by what we preach, unless you are an exceptional athlete. Don't worry, we have a whole different set of rules for you. Big reward! Even bigger risk!

Easy, they want to win and are willing to risk this for the first Sac State winning season in a long time. I have no problem with this. I hope it pans out. 8-)

I don't believe they would bring a cancer to the team. I'm sure there are ground rules set out for TD and if he so much as puts his jock strap in the wrong place, he'll be through. We have to remember these are very young kids and they make mistakes. Stop bashing him and let's wish him the best. I'm sure he'll be on a very tight leash, but if he can succeed in the classroom and learn to be more disciplined off the field, it will be a tremendous tribute to our coaching staff to help a kid turn his life around and a tribute to him for taking the higher road. We don't often get a chance to get an athlete like this, so let's hope its a win-win for everyone.

My kudo's to Jake Croxdale. He's earned my respect as the type of player we all hope Hornets will be. We need all of these kids in order to compete with Montana and Weber States this year.

My intent wasn't to bash TD, but simply to temper everyone's giddiness about him coming to town, and responding to his risk/reward potential. I hope he plays and elevates the caliber of our running back corps - heck even start and make Hilliard, Wilkins, Kenslow and Crox an afterthought. I just hope he realizes "this is it", and that he may not get another chance to play.

This is the same competition that should happen at every position on the field if the Hornets intend to compete and break the 6-6 barrier. For the Hornets to get there, they need the meat too, not just the sizzle...

Go Hornets!

That's what I'm f'n talkin' about! Ha! HHD and Ficky, I'm with you both. If this guy so much as looks at a coach or teammate the wrong way, boot his butt. But if he ends up rushing for 1,000 yards, igniting the team, and making everyone else better, well, wasn't that the point? Plus, it makes Sperbeck look like an uber genius!

He's a local kid so I'm sure we must have gone after him in HS when he chose UW, and I'm sure we were'nt the only suitor bidding for him when he left. We made a business decision to go after him so I know coach feels it can be a good investment. That said, we must have felt we can offer him an environment in which he can succeed. So hopefully we have the kind of program that can benefit a kid like this: good leadership, mentoring, tutoring, etc. He's close to home and a good homecooked meal and some family support will help also. But ultimately it's up to him. As Jerry Tarkanian once told a kid goin through similar rehab, "It's there if you want it." Hopefully it's there and he wants it.
