The Bengal Women are in if...

In case you missed it the ISU vs. Montana game is now Wednesday night approximately 8PM from Missoula. It is the last game of the day so the start time again is approximate.

ISU now having to leave tomorrow afternoon since the Big Sky slated them for a 12:30 practice Tuesday afternoon and it takes about 4-5 hours to get there.

Long, long week on the road for this team starting last Wednesday.

Why didn't they just travel from Moscow to Missoula and wait there? It would have meant one extra day there, but I bet it wouldn't have been more expensive that the gas/time it took to go from Missoula to Poky, back to Missoula, and back to Poky after Wednesday.

Sin:

Late last night, the BSC made a change so that ISU doesn't have to leave now until Tuesday morning at 10. That helps.

To answer your question I suspect part of the reason was that airplane tickets were already bought and purchased for a return to Boise then Pocatello by bus on Sunday. That was done a long time ago in order to get the best price possible. Remember the men's tournament wasn't decided until Saturday night. The fact that both tournaments would be held in Missoula wasn't known until literally the last minute (one of the inherent issues with not holding a post season tournament at a predetermined site). The decision to move up the women's tournament wasn't made until the same time. No way ISU could stay in Moscow or Missoula for the additional day or days and eat the airplane tickets or try to change them at the last minute at an extremely high fee.

The other reason I suspect, was academics. ISU has been on the road since last Wednesday. The women's tournament was originally supposed to start Thursday with a Wednesday leave time. That meant the players could get back to class for a few more days. Even with the change they can still get to class today. Academics is important to Seton. He wants his kids in class as much as possible during the season. They had already missed last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
