So I noticed at the game Saturday the ROTC cannon was not there, is this a new thing or has it been a while and why? I haven't been to a game in a couple years and they had it then...

I think they stopped it a year or 2 ago. I think it's BS. And need to restart the cannon. It's tradition. I'm really tired of a few whiners that ruin it for the majority

A cadet was seriously injured 2 years ago when they fired the cannon. They were not following proper procedure so the regional Army ROTC Commander took it away from the school. And my understanding from talking to cadets I know that it will not be returned.

Oh wow. I had no idea. That makes sense. It sucks for the fans, but we'll get over it.

I had no idea either. I hope the cadets are ok. That's too bad for everyone. I guess we will have to come up with some new ideas for celebrating !

Oh UNC, only we could pull this off on a consistent basis. Some of the fun of the games was the cannon (It actually made our stadium seem like a real college stadium for a second or two)
