It's hard to get good assistants with what $$ Mac has to work with.SWeberCat02 said:I will probably get blasted for saying, or even thinking this, but the buck stops with the head coach. If his coordinators are worthless than it's his fault for hiring them or keeping them on. So it's hard to say Mac is great and then talk about how bad the coordinators and the team are. Coach Mac is a great guy and an excellent recruiter but his teams are often undisciplined on and off the field and fail to adapt or innovate (this year's team for sure). We could very well be looking at a 3 or 4 win season. That should be unacceptable to everyone, and as the head coach, Coach Mac has to take some, if not most, of the blame. I know that this year's team is very young, but if he isn't successful over the next two years then it will really start to feel like his stay at Utah all over again (improved the program, program leveled off, and wasn't able to get to the next level of excellency).N.OgdenCat said:I have little faith in our team. After watching that Ass Kicking in Missoula I realized how badly the coaching staff needs to be shaken up. Mac, of course, is great, but he needs to get rid of the parts of the staff that are really damaging the teams progress. Having two D coordinators is worthless. Neither one of the two are fit to run a defense. Next the offensive line has only gotten worse this year. That is in direct correlation to the OL coach. With the talent on that line, it is embarrassing how many sacks the line has given up this year.
as for the game...the defense has the ability and talent but not the coaches to stop the Bobcats. The offense without Hoke will be lost. Jordan, did an admirable job, but he isn't anywhere as prepared to run the offense as Hoke is.
That is where it gets really frustrating. Maybe Mac is hesitant to promote other coaches, cause he doesn't want to lose them. But this is the third season we, as fans, have been enduring the mind numbing inefficiency of Cookus and Swan. Samuelson, could get better, lets hope. I think Hammer has improved a bit. I would like to see a more dynamic offense.
I agree about the discipline issues on and off the field. hno:
