The Great Alaska Shootout

Fox sports channel 34 on Comcast has the Portland State vs Hampton game live. The Oregonian didn't mention this in today's paper. Go Viks!!!!!!!!!

PSU -32 Hampton - 24 @ halftime. Dominguez hasn't score and has missed three open jumpshots that are usually money. The finger injury is really hurting his shooting. The Viks should be up by more, but are missing too many easy shots. Go Viks!!!!!!!!!!

We didn't shoot well, but I'll take the score at the half.

I'm glad we're seeing a mix of defenses that Hampton is throwing at us this early in the year. Great to see this prior to conference play.

Let's get a great 2nd half going!

Bad game tonight but a good lecture in what it means to play a tough defense. Some players looked very good, but it's evident we have been relying on Dominguez too much.

To think the Viks could have won that game if Coston had hit two free throws at the end of regulation, just amazing. It's a game the Viks really didn't deserve to win, but we sure would have taken it. Viks lose it in OT, 77-71

To think that the Vikings could have won the game if they hadn't given away 12 points right at the beginning of the second half. ;) Oh well, at least it looked good. I was already suspecting that Comcast Northwest only broadcasts games in which the Viks look really, really awful (see this football season).

We had to lose eventually, and we will lose again. The fact we was able to come back and force an overtime shows how tough our team is and that they will fight tooth and nail. Now from what I have seen Hampton is a quality team that last week upset George Mason and it has given us an idea of what to expect when we do play other teams from outside the Big Sky in our quest to return to the next big dance.

I like your positive spin Casey, and I agree with you. Hampton is to predicted to win their Conference in a number of magazines and are a good ball club. I really think this game could be a good learning lesson for the Viks, and I think they would have loss to San Diego St. anyway in the final, as the Aztecs are very athletic and big compared to PSU. I think the outcome would have been different too if Dominguez wasn't hurt, he has been half the player he was in our first 3 games. I think you mentioned you may attend the PSU-Baylor game. Baylor beat ASU last night and looked really tough, so a competitive game would almost be a victory in itself. Come on Viks, let's beat SU tonight!!!!!!!!!

Seattle has a player named Austen Powers. I could come up with some lame joke, but I figure PSU's players will turn him into one for me.

The big thing that I take away from Alaska is the emergence of Phil Nelson. Against Hampton and Seattle he really started to show what he can do. I admit to being a little nervous after the first couple of games.

I hope Dominguez can get some time off for the next two weeks. I think he should sit out the next few games unless they absolutely need him. With that finger like it is, he's only functioning at about 35% capacity.

Agreed. Get him healed. Play Dominic Waters, Mickey Polis and Wendell Wright for the next 2 games vs. Seattle and Lewis and Clark. Save him for the UW game in 2 weeks.
