The Hornets Pt. 2

Sacramento State is the first Big Sky team we will have faced twice on the season (havent even played UNC yet).

The Hornets despite looking like they may have started improving, have lost 8 in a row (including our first encounter). They are 5-13 overall and 0-7 in the Big Sky, thier worst loss was at home to Idaho State, a game in which Sacramento let (if I'm not mistaken) a 22 point 2nd half lead slip away and end up losing to the Bengals.

This is a game that we should win easliy, but we all know from experience, that a win in the Hornets nest never comes easy, heck our home game vs the Hornets wasnt easy. I expect a Weber win, with a lot of Weber fans at the game (mostly because of Lillard and Otis)

Lets go get our 8th conf victory and 10th in a row.

I think Sac surprising us a bit during the home game did us a favor. Randy definitely won't overlook them for this road trip.

Oaktown will be deep in the house for sure! Already got a big caravan! We'll be sitting behind the Weber bench making a lot of noise!

i heard we are 32-4 vs sac, 14-3 @ sac!

Are you going to the Sac game?

for sure! its my new idaho state! basically same distance to drive. we will have great crowd and the majority! i heard there will be 25 local alumni coming to the game, the lillard family/friends, hajek has family at all the cali games too because his mom is from sac. ive seen richardson family members at all the games too so i would assume otis family/friends too.

might not be like the group we had at Cal but will be good.

I went to the Sac game a couple of years ago. First, the Hornets Nest is very LOL. I couldn't believe that a DI basketball team actually played there. I wondered Sacs campus for about an hour trying to find the stadium with Bengalhater and couldn't find it. We asked a bunch of students if they knew where the gym was and they were shocked to find out that they had a DI basketball program or even a basketball team. Needless to say, I was somewhat sad for Sac's team. What made things worse for the Sac faithful, I was happy about it, was that there was a really great crowd on hand for the Wildcats. At times, I felt like it was a home game. I hope it is like that tomorrow night.

Couple of things. I hope that Bull is playing better and has greater movement in his elbow. Since he isn't 100% yet, you can kinda tell that he is playing cautiously, which has limited his ability. No matter, I'm hoping he can log 20-25 solid mins for the Cats tomorrow and really crash the boards. That is one area where Sac hurt us when we played them in Ogden. Also, it will be nice having a true 3 being available to guard Eberhard and Dickson. We will need Bull and Mook quite a bit this weekend. I'm sure, each week, they will get better and feel more comfortable.

Would love to see K-Bull and Mook light it up tomorrow, especially K Bull, everytime he shoots everyone just hopes it falls, and Mook was huge in our win over Montana, he egnited a huge fire when he came in. Cant wait for them to be 100% again.

Gameday baby, go Wildcats

I hate these west coast 8pm games, they dont do those of us (myself) who have to get up at 4:30 in the morning.

tonight we will win our 10th straight game overall. it will also be our 10th win in a row against sac. in big sky, we will be 3-0 on the road, 8-0 overall, 5-0 at home.

from the big sky site:

Weber State is 7-0 in conference, marking the second straight season a team has won its first seven games. Northern Colorado started 7-0 last season before a loss at Weber State. Weber State is just the fourth team in the last decade to win its first seven conference games. The three previous all won the regular-season conference title and hosted the Big Sky Championship. In 2002-03, Weber State went 14-0 in conference. In 2005-06, Northern Arizona won its first eight conference games en route to a 12-2 league mark. Northern Colorado went 13-3 last season. Weber State can become the fist team to win its first eight conference games since NAU in 2005-06 with a win on Thursday against Sacramento State, which is 0-7 in conference. WSU is 7-0 in conference for the seventh time in history. Just twice have the Wildcats made it to 8-0. Both of those years, 1968-69 and 2002-03, the Wildcats went undefeated in conference play.

So far I haven't wanted to turn this announcer off. He is pretty entertaining, and not to biased yet. But the team is looking good so far, just seems that they are making one extra pass at times.

The Hornets are close to becoming a good team. Walter Jackson leaving is, in my opinion, the major reason behind the Hornets recent struggles. He is the glue player that the Hornets needed. Sac should be improved next year. Garrity (FR), Carbajal (Soph), Veteto (JR), Dickson (JR) and Eberhard (JR) are all back and could make some things happen. A couple of solid players coming off the bench Estrada perhaps, and someone else, would be the difference maker for the Hornets.
