"THE List"

I would LOVE to get my hands on the list of 80+ applicants for the Men's Basketball opening. Wouldn't it be crazy to see like Steve Lavin or Bob Knight on the list? I know it's about a one in a million chance of them, even applying (or knowing there's an opening), but it would be interesting to know the range od candidates Wanless is considering. The application filing deadline is 3/26, correct?

The Record is reporting that Cabrillo College head man (and former UOP assistant) Tony Marcopulous is among those applying. Record sports editor Bob Highfill wrote a column that concluded that unless Sac were to snare Bob Knight or Eddie Sutton (yeah, right), Marcopulous or Katz will be the way to go.

Personally, I don't want Marcopulous, even though he was the guy who answered the phone when Michael Olowokandi called from the UK. Of course, that has more to do with the way his dad screwed me over at Delta than anything HE did.

Give the job to Katz. And hire Gina Johnson for the WBB job while we're at it.

Man, what if Knight or some other huge name applied... That would blow my mind...

Knight = Abatemarco on steroids

I would love to see any attention-drawing coach regardless of their past. If we could pull in anyone that would provide even a smidge of National interest or a couple mentions on ESPN (or an ESPN game), that would be HUGE for recruiting and fundraising.

It ain't gonna happen with out facilities, salary, reputation, etc...

I'm not sure what he did to you to get you so bitter... but just for the record, it's not Tony Marcopulos' dad who was at Delta, it was his uncle. So don't hold that against him ;) , Tony is a good coach.

Ernie wouldn't allow me to get an outside physical to play football after the coaches forgot to tell me about the school-sponsored ones.

The one bright spot out of the whole thing was that it opened the door for me to get into the film racket, which helped me immensely at Sac when that idiot 'Stick didn't want me as a QB.
