It would seem that the local media at KFKA thinks very little of you the UNC fans or your opinions. Here is UNCBroadcaster's latest twitter quote: "People on message boards make me laugh. Just because it's so obvious how little attention they really pay to the games. Wow." This is the sort of attitude that will keep Collins and his crew losing in Greeley. Apparently, our observations about the team losing again are horribly misinformed. We dullards don't see the master plan here. UNC will fool the opponents into believing that the Bears are a good team by losing all their games. I get it! Now that's coaching! I'll bet the high school recruits will be impressed by our 1-4 or 1-5 record, whatever it is... I get tired of counting the losses...

So The Greeley Tribune is sucking up to UNC for AD revenue as evidenced by their latest editorial when they should be calling for a coaching change. KFKA announcers will keep making excuses, kiss Collins' posterior, laugh at their listeners, and the losses will pile up....

The media is complicit in this cluster*uck since they are not doing their job.

Yeah, it seems like it's impossible for our media to be critical of this team, which is amazing since they are the one forced to watch every play.

Everyone is of course welcome to their own opinions, but when people on other threads on this site just blindly assume that the players and coaches "don't care," that's what is not okay. You're not the ones who spend days with these people, realizing just how much they do care, and just how upset they are that they're not winning games.

Also, for the record, that also wasn't pointed at this board. Watch out when assuming...

Holy crap, there is another message board that mentions UNC football and is even more negative than this one?
Astounding!

To be fair, I think that they all care, they are just not as good as the other coaches and players.

You forgot to mention Mustari. He blasted opinions on this board too.

They don't care. Ask Will Jefferson how much he cares. All he wants to do is just get back to California. Just look at his tweets! The season couldn't end soon enough for that chump.

He's just a kid who's homesick. Give him a break. Plus, you don't have two catches for 71 yards and a touchdown when you don't care about the game.

Exactly. This conference is evolving - the other programs are also getting better and better. Just look at the average scoring numbers put up in this league week in and week out. Some programs aren't evolving at the same rate (read: UC Davis, North Dakota, Idaho State). It just so happens (unfortunately so) that UNC is more closely related to them than they are the likes of Eastern Washington and Montana State.

I have to agree 100%. The media covering this team is doing nothing more than losing creditability when they continue to make excuses for this team and coaching staff. I don't care how much time they spend with the team while covering them...they still need to report the facts. And the facts are this team and coaching staff stink.

I enjoy listening to Troy and Ben call the actual game. Overall, it's an above average broadcast and better than several national broadcasts. But, they fall well below average into the "needs improvement" category when it comes to anything else other than the actual game calling. They need to quit making excuses and call it like it is. Collins, his staff and team(s) are something like 6-21 over the last three years.

As "someone" once said on Twitter "kill them with logic"...I would like to hear the logic behind a 6-21 record?

The media dynamic is interesting here. UNC needs KFKA far more than KFKA needs UNC. Same with the Tribune. Really, how many locals from the Greeley/Weld area listen to KFKA or read the Trib for UNC news? My guess is very few. As Troy has stated, with UNC and with high school coverage, it's a public service not a money maker. It gives them much more room to be critical so I am not sure why they treat the football program with kid gloves. Maybe it's because they see how hard they are working and want it to succeed so bad and miss the fact that what they are doing day in and day out doesn't work.

And I do really like our radio coverage. Where else do you here references to the Saskatchewan Roughriders?

As a broadcaster myself (I do ISU games on the radio), I also have to point out that if Troy is hired by a radio station he has a lot more flexibility about what he can say, but if he's paid by the Athletic Department...there can be a pretty tight leash. I'm paid by the school, and I do my best to call it like it is on the field during the game, but editorial comments must be tempered. Last winter the announcer for North Dakota was suspended for two games for making a comment in a basketball post-game show that didn't go over too well with the athletic administration...

I want our program to succeed as much, if not more, than the average fan. But as an employee of the school I'm also a public relations voice for the athletic programs. I have to be cognizant of that.

Troy is paid by KFKA, not UNC.
