I'm an eagle fan of a few years now. I have recently found this board and wonder....what is this obsession with hating Montana. I get were rivals and they have been really good over the last 20 years. Why though are we being so rude to their fans. I sold two tickets, I had as extras to griz fans. I just don't understand why we have to be idiots and try and declass a program that is something to look up too. Shouldnt we want to be that program.. with the history success support and facilities they do? I went to the ewu game last year and it was a amazing experience over there. I just don't know why we don't do the same here. I talked with a few guys I work with that are fans and they told me they love when Montana comes because they can be rude to Montana fans and make sure they have the worst time ever. Is that not babyish? Idk maybe I'm just not understanding of the situation. Please enlighten me guys! Thanks
 
Unfortunately, I beleive that a few fans from The Griz, has spoiled the outlook on their program. Most posters that show the hate have had encounters with their fans on other boards such as EGRIZ or AGS or the UM posters have come trolling here. It is not a one way street however, we have some fans on the boards that other fans may find offensive or bothersome. Speaking for this fan and his family, I have nothing but respect for the Griz and their program. We invite all Griz fans into our tailgate just as we have been welcomed to theirs. It is a great rivalry, but one that should be based on respect for where each other are and where we are going. I am sure other fans will give their perspective to your question.
 
For me, it stems from being from the Missoula area and being around Griz fans. There are many good people who are Griz fans and alumni, including a few in my family. With that said, there is no team I hate more than the Montana Grizzlies. That doesn't mean I don't respect them. It's a rivalry, and that's just part of it. Many of their fans make it hard to like them because their ignorance. From alumni and boosters giving special treatment to players (in the past) to treating EWU fans, our school, and our team like we could never touch their high and mighty program and tradition when the facts of the last few years show otherwise.
 
there is a difference between smack talking for the sake of the rivalry and ugliness. There is both but from what I've seen nearly everything on this board is fun smack talking. I have friends not on this board who are Griz fans and we give each other grief at every opportunity. But it's all fun. There is a line that gets crossed but I've rarely seen it here. Take a look over on egriz or AGS to see where the line gets crossed. In particular on egriz they spend a lot of effort taking personal and absolutely unnecessary and unjustified attacks to EWU players (especially VA). The way I see it is the only difference between our fans and their fans is the color of their shirts/hats.
 
Also, for the record, I don't want Eastern to try to become Montana. I want Eastern to be Eastern. A team that wins with great student athletes. A University that sticks it to schools like Montana that think we're not worthy of being at the same level as them. And a fan base that supports our school through the best times, and the worst times.

Eastern washington sucks.... so proud of their one national championship they put it on the exit sign on the highway... you sad bastards.
 
I can't believe people are biting on this thread? "Datruth" is obviously a griz fan who created a fake identity to post here.

Why on Earth would you sell tickets to Griz fans instead of Eagle fans? I don't necessarily believe you are an Eagle fan. I have no beef with Montana people, but I wouldn't encourage them coming to our game at the expense of Eastern fans.
 
datruth's post has some merit(and some smells). No harm in being cordial I invite all Griz fans to my tailgate for some tea and strumpets..#T4U.
