Is Gage on the Mt. Rushmore of EWU players? Or even on the Mt. Rushmore of EWU QBs?
Maybe. Maybe not. But damnit he was amazing.

This thread never gained much traction. I think Gage is among the best ever Eagle QBs. Had he been able to finish out the year, he may have finished as they guy I considered the very best Eagle QB of all time.

Nonetheless, he was a sensational QB. His biggest highlight for me was going for over 500 yards against WSU in Pullman in his first full game.

Still, he ranks up there with Worman, Meyer, Nichols, Mitchell, and Adams. Elite company.

Agreed. Interesting thought; had both Gubrud and Adams played 4 full seasons at EWU, who would've finished with more yardage / TDs?

Both put up video game numbers.
 
IMO had VA come back for his Sr year the Eagles would have been a contender for national championship and if Gage were able to finish this season we may have made a trip to Frisco
 
Gage will go down statistically as a great but it's unfortunate he didn't get to play his full 3rd year or he would hold all the major records and another deep playoff run.

Hard to argue with VAs success running the offense.
 
2016 Gage and the Team came within an inch, one stinking inch! of taking The Eagles to Frisco. But for some nasty kind of fate, he probably would of taken the '18 Eagles there. I wish him a record setting pro career before returning to the Inferno as a Head Coach. He's a natural winner; he made Eastern a winner, and ........................................... 9,984 yards is 10,000 yards! Thanks Gabe.

Huh? He's getting surgery for the injury that he can't play on; how is that in any way showing disdain or contempt toward Eastern? :dunce:
 
It's so hard to get the kind of numbers as it takes all number of things from linemen/wr's/right coaching to make a good QB great. Consider ourselves fortunate.

Because that Montana State game was in SEPTEMBER! It’s NOVEMBER and STILL no surgery. :dunce: :dunce:
 
Eastern took their slow, sweet time announcing that he even HAD an injury. Now it’s 2 weeks until the end of the regular season and STILL no surgery? Please! :tothehand:

No. Listen to the interview after the announcement. He said he’a not going to go out there and be at 50% and hurt the team when there’s a better option.
