The Open Scholarship?

Since Juan decided to stay at Marquette what do we do with the open spot? I would hold out for another transfer if it was the right fit. If we don't find the right player then I would just hold on to it and save it for next year. We have 4 Seniors on the team for next year so including those and the current open spot we will have 5 spots available. This is going to be a big year for us in recruiting. Im confident the coaches will put together a great class. What are our needs? With those 5 spots this is what I would like to see.
1 Center
2 Guards
1 Small Forward
1 Power Forward

If we bring in 5 new players in the 2014 class, at least two of them will need to be redshirted and one or two of them will get some PT right out of the gate. I don't think they will bring in 5 freshmen unless they are really good players. Otherwise, they leave at least one spot open until spring or early summer. The rotation seldom gets beyond 11 players and if you are the 12th or 13th guy, you don't want to burn eligibility.

I'm not sure that this class needs a power forward, unless they are better than what we've got. I don't see Juan's not coming as substantially changing or recruiting. :coffee:

We still have Berry this year, and Hill, Gittens and Williams in future years. :thumb:

i would like to see rahe sign 5 freshmen. then i would like to the 5 freshmen call for a preseason scrimmage against the rest of the roster which would be the 2013-14 big sky champions and call it "freshmen vs yall". then i want to see the freshmen soundly mop the floor with the team.

my last request is for none of 5 freshmen to call a timeout near the end of a championship game when we dont have any time outs left when they are all sophomores.

5 starting freshmen sounds cool but what about 5 starting sophs?

I know I don't have a lot of say in the process, but if it was up to me, and I could chose which of our recruits were coming to take the open scholies...I'd say:

Myles Turner 6-11 PF
Zack Braxton 6-9 PF/C
Ryan Richardson 6-6 W
Ryan Van Pelt 6-11 C
Byron Smith 6-5 W
Whoever the top PG is...I think Jerome Segura.

That would be a pretty damn good class.

What is the likelihood that Weber is able to get the above class? 5%?? If Rahe can pull the above off, I would be pretty damn excited for the future of Weber State basketball. Turner is the real deal. He would be one of the biggest gets in school history. Imagine subbing in Turner for Bolomboy? :notworthy:
Personally, I think Myles Turner would look best in Weber State Wildcat purple.

Weber is definitely on another level than the rest of the Big Sky.
