The PAC-MWC Dominoes Begin to Fall/Conference Realignment

Who is the "you" here? I haven't seen anyone say they believe the things he said in that news report.

I certainly don't take anything he ever says seriously wrt the future of the university's sports programs and facilities.

It's always misleading, pipedream nonsense. I say that based upon history and the hope that one day I'll be proven wrong. But that day never seems to actually come.

I don't believe anything drastic is changing with the Hornets 2026 schedule (being added to an FBS conference), however, if a miracle did indeed happen and they were added to an FBS conference schedule in the coming weeks -- you are right in that the 5 FCS games wouldn't represent a true FBS schedule.

I notice at the end of the news report we got the same "there is another big announcement on the way" regarding football that he doesn't want to give away too many details about.

It's just more of the same vague, leading statements that rarely, if ever, actually materialize. Big news was supposed to be announced in November, too. And how many other times over the past couple years??
That next announcement announcement, plus the Wilton Rancheria announcement, to my mind, couldn’t be any more obvious.

Only issue… doesn’t Republic have a construction cam? Anyone want to go pirate drone over the Railyards?

This was a direct move to get the plans in for future MLS/Sac State stadium share, still waiting for anything official. But wouldn't it be nice if our shovels were in the ground and we didn't even know it. LOL

He has definitely tarnished the reputation of our university, and he has accomplished virtually nothing. And before you try to give Wood credit for hiring Carter you might want to consider the fact that nobody else in America would even give him a coordinator position much less a head coaching job. I'm more than willing to support Carter but it's going to awhile before I give Wood any credit.

I don't get the crashouts over the doings of someone in academia, especially from conservative leaning folks who forfeited academic institutions a generation ago. Academics function in their own ecosystem, very few things carry over into the real world. That said, Dr. Wood just landed a $50M donation from Meta and $7.5M from the local indan tribe that will help boost his agenda (one of which is athletics). Hate Dr. Wood all you want but no other president in Sac State's history has boosted the university profile more than him, especially for athletics.

Dr. Wood gets credit for increasing funding athletics and doing what he can to get our programs to a higher status. Some things have worked out (move the BW, getting the Pavilion done) and some haven't (FBS ambitions, football stadium). I don't think people are realizing how big of a lift it was to get fees increased for athletics and facilities and how that will position Hornet athletics for the new revenue sharing era. Time will tell on how it all settles out but if he is willing to keep funds flowing into athletics then we'll be fine.

All the Dr. Wood haters need to take a minute to think what happens when he leaves and an anti-athletics wokenista takes over...because rest assured the Sac State President is always going to be a wokenista.

I’m thankful he finally improved our basketball facilities to a satisfactory level. I’m thankful for the athletic budget for FB / BB.

Agree he is pro athletics and that’s a huge positive, more than most realize on California state campus.

Also agree what he is pushing for academics is mostly self serving with little to no academic value. It plays to the political power players of California, especially in the light of the openly hostile rhetoric toward any center or right leaning person , including those who share disdain for trump.

He has tried to move the needle more than anyone before him has for athletics, he hasn’t reached critical mass to make huge announcements. On campus stadium? Probably never in cards. Pac-12? Not interested . MW? Pissed them off talking loosely. NCAA , same story. Sac-12? Disappeared with his brother. CalExpo? Dead silent. Concerts after games? Decidedly not family friendly with tons of bad press.

I think he’d have a greater chance if he didn’t want to eliminate whiteness…regardless of the word salad he then gives defending that as not being racist or even a decision based on race. It’s nonsense in my opinion, and to me limits the reach of his messaging of how great Sac St could be.

The jizzers got so triggered from MSU's natty that they chased away Hauck. Amazing crashout. Also interesting that they waited until signing day to pull the rug from all the incoming recruits. I wonder how many players hit the portal with this news. You hate to see it...

I just think it's beyond belief that a man that wrote this Tweet is a CSU president making $500,000K A year.. I am losing sleep over this guys:

Under his jlukewood Twitter account:

"@frankdatank_07 hi Frank,
whoever you are. I recently took a
DNA test and got my results. I found
out that I'm 100% African American.
I also learned that my Black power
score is 100. However, I also learned
that my tolerance score for White
fragility is only 5%. I unfortunately
used all of that 5% in this response to
you."

This is a clearly blatantly racist comment, and this guy shouldn't be a CSU president, this is a total double standard.

This guy should have been fired yesterday, never hired actually.

This is blatant racism.

Also, I want to see evidence of a P.H.D.

Was it Arizona State online or.. ? Do you really have a PHD?

I don't see Luke Wood in any address in Arizona in any public record so far...

Has "Dr." Luke Wood ever clarified where his P.H.D. is really from.. Arizona State Online supposedly, right?

I simply don't understand your obsession with a president of a school that you aren't connected to....Personally, I don't even know the name of any other schools president in the BSC....to each his own I suppose....Keep losing sleep over something that you can do NOTHING about...

You really can’t comprehend why someone might take issue with a University President collecting a gigantic paycheck from a tax-funded, State-run institution all while holding and sharing the types of views that Dr. PHD has? It’s really isn’t that difficult.

Whether or not someone is “connected” to the university is irrelevant. Being a tax payer and/or a concerned citizen is justification enough for caring.

One could counter by saying that they seriously can’t understand your indifference in choosing to look the other direction.

The level of hypocrisy people go to these days knows no bounds. If Dr. PHD’s words and beliefs were shared by a political or public figure you didn’t like or had some sort of bias against — then and only then would it be a problem and used against them.

ES2X may be trolling this forum a bit, but the concern over the University President’s views and public statements is by no means unwarranted.
