The PAC/MWC Dominoes Begin to Fall

Yawn, this Luke Fletcher guy isn't a real source and just regurgitates talking points he sees on twitter and elsewhere. The phag AD posted that dated image (2006?) when the initial Sac12 stuff started hitting the news cycle. The phags didn't get serious about FBS until Dr. Wood started his pursuit. Every Hornet fan knows their egos would never allow us to move up to FBS without following suit. We were always going to make moves before them because they aren't forward thinking wrt athletics.

The talk about Causeway continuing is a moot point. They'll join the FBS ranks shortly after we join and it'll be back to a home and home agreement. Until then, it will (and should) be played in Hornet Stadium as FBS programs don't travel to FCS programs. It will be squarely on the phags shoulders if the annual Causeway game isn't played every year.

Back to PAC realignment, it was confirmed by the AAC commissioner that its member institutions did have formal offers on the table from the PAC but they declined. It will be hard for the PAC to pry them away without a media deal in hand, but perhaps they target some lesser AAC schools instead. Time will tell.

Where will that leave Cal Poly? They dont have market or finances to keep up. Not that I really care, but besides them and USD they will be only FCS in the state.

Wow. Snubbed by the Big West once again. Maybe they held off due to your soon to be announced addition to the PAC6. I think they should just call it the 6PAC, sounds better. ;-)

So, where is WSU going to end up once all this movement shakes out?

Weber fan attempting to troll any fan base is, well, amusing. Clearly there’s nothing going on over on that forum, which is why you’re camping out here all the time.

I suspect that we will be exactly where we are now.

With $50 million per year in NIL money, Sac must go independent FBS. The hornets should be competing for national championships in all sports by this time next year. At the very least, you will be the champions of the Sacramento independents every year. It's just sad that the rest of the schools in California won't be able to keep up.

I have to say that is a helluva lot better than being the worst D1 program in Utah...and I mean the WORST, in football and basketball.....Olds, you better park your azz in Pocatello cuz Ogden is going down the tubes...So bad you cant BS the BBQ fan forum anymore so you have to go to Egriz, Bengal BS or here....Sad situation in Ogden...

Sad? Comical is probably the more appropriate adjective in this case. Remember the "Fire Rahe" threads on the BBQ fan forum? Good times.

You're right, It's been a really tough year in Ogden. We certainly don't have $50 million per year in NIL money. Sac has it going on and should be right up there with USC and the likes real soon. That is likely the most NIL money of any mid major program in the country. You are right up there with the P4 programs. It would be foolish for Sac to not go independent in all sports. Why be restrained by a conference affiliation that will just hold you down. Go out and negotiate your own media contracts or operate your own network. Maybe you are not thinking big enough.

Starting to sound like Micky Mentally unstable. Thats $50M over 10yrs, or $5M a year for the challenged.
Reading comprehension is a dangerous drug.

Thanks for the clarification. Also, I guess it is fair to point out that it is all promised money and not actually money in hand. It changes the whole discussion. I still think that Sac is a sleeping giant and probably has the most potential of anybody in the BSC. Seems like that potential is always slightly out of your grasp. Truth is that I really like the city and surrounding area. And, yes, I like to poke every now and then, just like a lot of us on these boards.

I see it pointed out on Twitter continuously that the NIL money is contingent like it's a gotcha moment. This was made clear from day one, so Sac has not been trying to deceive anyone. People just don't read.

Sac State doesn't need 50 mil in NIL to compete in the FCS. So it makes sense donors won't be lining up if Sac stays in FCS. That's not a sound investment.

if Sac could elevate its research levels to SDSU amount, it could throw its weight around a bit more compared to the UC’s who have built in prestige. Really firm up the alumni network would help as well.

President is trying to make a splash, and is doing better job selling a vision than anyone before him. The Big Sky members or other mid/low majors have reason to poke holes, as most are not gaining much momentum or are not in such a large market with only 1 pro team (well two temporarily). Sac needs to elevate everything , get the stadium moving with a FBS plan, get people at games, and fix men’s basketball to be ready for constant NCAA changes.
