• Hi Guest,

We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.
  • Hi Guest, want to participate in the discussions, keep track of read/unread posts and more? Create your free account and increase the benefits of your eGriz.com experience today!
  • Guest, do want an ad free experience on BigSkyFans.com among other benefits? Upgrade your account today!

Thanks for the continued support. Cheers!

The Power of Geography

In addition to JUCO transfers and discounted HS players (see my prior post re how UNC is to compete with richer in tradition and $ schools), I would also add local products who either don't want to leave the area or want to transfer back.

This makes me think of Larry Bird. He was a basketball player who wasn't bad. He even made the NBA Hall of Fame.

He signed with the Hoosiers and went to Bloomington but it wasn't for him, being a "big city" and all. So he transferred to Indiana State to be closer to his peeps. And then he took them to the Championship Game.

Unfortunately it was against my favorite player of all time: Magic Johnson. But still, Indiana State's never going to reach those heights again.

That's the power of geography.

Jason Victor Smith (born March 2, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA...from Greeley, CO.

So much for the Huff/Anderson duo that was so threatening.

Shout out to Jaron Nash. This guy was awesome -- 22 points, 10-of-14 from the floor.

He transferred to UND from Texas Tech to be closer to his ailing father.

You are a man. I admire you. I will root for you. Except when my beloved Bears are involved.
