What I don't understand is how Coach Collins is still employed after the antics made public by the anonymous letter posted in the Greeley Tribune. How can our AD allow this behavior, if a player came to my practice drunk they would immediately be dismissed from the team. Let's also not forget to mention the podcast from Troy defending their behavior. I don't care what punishment the player(s) received, when your star player has already been released from one team due to questionable actions they have already had a second chance. I am starting to get the feeling that Jay, Collins and Seth are in some sort of secret alliance. I mean seriously, what is it going to take for our university to comprehend that our athletic department is a joke?

Reiterating: Bumpas didn't show up for a practice drunk. He and other (of age) players showed up for a 6am Sunday workout smelling of alcohol. Multiple players. Of age. They're allowed to drink, but ALL were punished for it that morning.

Guess what? I had a few mornings in college where I showed up to class probably still smelling of alcohol.

As for the letter posted in the Tribune: it wasn't anonymous. You can easily find the man's name who submitted it. He has been beating the drum for months trying to get what he thought was a story published, only to rebuffed multiple times because his facts were wrong. Did you see Matt's feature on Bumpas that points out the changes in his life? I'm assuming not, given your first post.

You don't like me defending a kid who deserves to be defended? I'd suggest you talk to the people I know at K-State and tell me how Bumpas doesn't deserve a chance. When one of my close friends--who submitted materials for Clarence's initial court date--says he still thinks the world of the kid, I'm hard pressed to not put my trust in that.

While there are many reasons Coach Collins could be fired, that article and the contents in it should not be one of them. These are young adults that celebrated their first win. If you released players because of stuff like that, teams would be playing 7 on 7 football by the end of the season.

You are missing the point. Like 'ol Herm Edwards says, if you're not coaching it, you are allowing it. Obviously you still have your rose-colored glasses on because there is no way you can have a successful program where the face of your team isn't held to a higher standard. The entire athletic dept needs to be held to a higher standard, ESPECIALLY the head coach. Yea Collins is trying to change the culture, but is it the right culture? Do you want a culture where the head coach is a NO CALL, NO SHOW at Traditions Night where he was scheduled to speak?!?!? I don't care who you are, no player is bigger than the team and no head coach is bigger than the University.

Let me guess you're the one that wrote the article, another person "all in the know".
