The Sac State Game 3 Collins still has a job thread

Just turned it on (had no idea it was on tv) to see Sac State tie it up at 14. Is it just my feed or do the replays stutter like they are serving it up from an old dial-up modem?

Perfect ending to the game. Pretty much sums up the last 10 years of UNC football.

Glad I missed this one... no idea what happened but I'm sure I'd have been pissed... I've just lost interest to be honest... seems hopeless at this point under the current administration.

24-56 overall and 15-42 in conference lol. 150k a year for that kind of success. Where can I get a job that pays that much that I can underperform to that level?

Watching it on tv, it looked like there may have been around 20 students at the game early in the 2nd half. The apathy is strong with this program.

Who wants to sit through a 94 degree day of lousy football if you're in college and can do way, way more fun things.

This is really sad. We have some really good kids but Our HC has to go. I feel so redundant as we have all been wanting change year after year to no avail. I just don’t really care. I have become apathetic and don’t care if I see another game this year.

My guess is the administration is just happy that players are behaving and not getting arrested... to the credit of the program I can't remember the last time that happened... BUT... FFS otherwise they are just terrible. I know the argument is that they don't have the budget, resources, etc... and my only response is S. Utah had been winning for years and you can't tell me they have more than us so that's only an excuse.

Bingo. Norton was impressed by the fact the players stayed out of trouble and the players graduated. The new president might want to win a bit more than Kay Norton.

The one thing that bothers me most about Collins and his staff is his inability to recruit good offensive linemen. We have had great skills players, but for whatever reason we cannot get good o-linemen. Look at todays game. They cost Knipp his career at UNC and then the game came down to the Hornets getting to Mott and sacking him and getting the fumble. There are zero holes for the running backs to get through.

Attendance was bad, especially from the students. When are they going to learn to fund-raise for some lights and get a night game at Nottingham?

I am so tired of hearing about money. You can have all the money in the world but if you can’t recruit and coach you have nothing . Night games would be awesome ! Better concessions etc etc. Nottingham oozes with apathy and nothing is going to change until changes occur !

It doesn't get easier next week. We're on the road against the best school in the conference.

Time to start thinking about a new hc and someone who will recruit bigger, tougher guys to play on the line.

Is this a blessing in disguise? Finishing .500 may be enough to keep Collins but going on an epic losing streak would surely be the end?

That's my hope as well, but his career coaching record is in the .300s so who knows. I'm also expecting 2 or 3 late season wins that will do just enough to keep him on, despite a losing record on the season. It's like groundhog day as a UNC fan.

It's my understanding he is in the last year of his contract.Surely they would not renew it.They hire good basketball coaches, the new softball coach looks like a good hire so,it's time for a new football coach.

They gave him a 5 year extension 2 years ago. It runs through 2021.

Kudos to the loyal posters here and I love your passion. Many schools don't even have a fanbase that cares so it is great to see that us Bears have one. In large part, I keep up with my Bears through you and I thank you for that.

"24-56 overall and 15-42 in conference" - that speaks volumes. Those are CRAZY numbers.

What also speaks volumes is that a university sticks with a head coach with that record and I optimistically think there is huge value in that. A lot of programs suffer in the opposite way..a constant re-stripping of a program and no staff ever gets any real traction.

I do hope that the administration lets this season play out and then we can see what we are left with in November. Many of us have assumptions on what this might be but perhaps we will also be pleasantly surprised with where the team is at.

As a previous fan said "It's like groundhog day as a UNC fan."

……………….. Go Groundhogs!……………...

JimmyG you must be new and that's ok. I just don't think you understand the grief we long time fans have had to endure. When you mention a constant restriping of a program, I think we have had 2 coaches in 14 years of misery. Are you kidding me? Like Budbear says in the next post, it is Groundhog Day to us long time Bears fans and we need to stop the insanity.
