Things you'd like to hear Coach Baldwin say..

What would you like to hear Coach Baldwin say...just for the fun of it?

"We've recruited great defensive players over the years and I know we have a ton of talent. Our offense is so good we will win most of our games and it seems our defense needs an opportunity to be on the same level. So, I'm going to inform my good friend and colleague Coach Graham (diplomatically as not to offend him) to try something new in regards to formation/schemes. What the heck, we have nothing to lose."

Begin dream sequence:
"Proud of how our players stepped up to meet the challenges of starting the season early and their commitment to the program and each other. In our commitment to help these players be all they can be; Bud Foster will be coming into camp next week and working with our coaches and young men on improving the scheme and techniques that will take this program to the next level. We have the talent on both sides of the ball. This change up will keep what we do fresh for the players and it's fair to expect will put new pressure on our offense to improve as well."

Not bagging. We have top talent on the defensive side of the ball. Love these players and their BIG hearts.

Good gravy. Is this what it's come to? We've been to the mountain top and could get there again. A few years ago, most of the few on here were concerned with merely beating the Griz. Now we have to hang 50+ on the Dawgs AND own them defensively. Sure, I think our scheme could have been better/changed, but I'm happy with the direction and confident.

"In an effort to increase our scoring capacity we will be more creative and try running Hamlin out of the backfield on occasion"

I don't really care how much the offense scores; my concern is scoring more than the opponent. Hanging 52 on UW and giving up 59 is no different than scoring 10 and giving up 17. The fact that is brought up here is that a defense that is merely competent is probably enough to get us where we want to go. However, not much the defense did approached competent yesterday.

"I need to speak with our back-ups about calling audibles and scoring when the game is already won by a wide margin. We don't need to embarrass the Griz like that."

Comparing 2010 to the last 2 seasons, the defense is the biggest difference. Our offense is head and shoulders better then that season, but we have to be able to make stops. We can't change personnel so let's change scheme. Literally I'm not sure if it is possible to give up more then 59 points in 28 minutes.
