Today's Bee mentioned that he left Fresno State to be closer to home. I know that we were interested in him when he was at Grant, and he seems to be without baggage....Any chance you think Sperbeck reaches out?

I hear there is baggage of some sort also, either grades or off the field stuff, or perhaps both, but in any case, I have also heard either type of "baggage" means you do not meet the Sac State "recruiting criteria." Marshall and his staff look for character and grades as much as athletic ability in their recruits.

Full disclosure: I have no specific knowledge of what the baggage is, but there is, allegedly, enough to not pursue him at this time. This info was on barkboard.com on May 27th of this year:

Lang is still a question mark on the team, as he deals with his academics. But suffice it to say, if he is successful in the classroom, he will bring speed and athleticism to the team at the receiver position. He recorded five receptions for 82 yards last season.

Sometimes kids are just not mature enough right out of high school and need to go to a JC for a year or two and get settled down academically. I hope Tim Lang can do that. I'd love to see him play for us some day because he's a very talented kid. I wish him nothing but their very best for the future.
