Tim Walsh

More about Walsh from the SLO paper...

Including that he would have never left PSU if he knew Army would fire the staff after 2 years.

And this from MSNBC...

Cal Poly: Our sources tell us former Toledo defensive backs coach Greg Lupher will be the defensive coordinator. We hear Jim Craft is set to become the offensive coordinator

Any official word from PSU that Craft is leaving?

I wouldn't be surprised if Craft joins Walsh. However, I would be surprised if he becomes OC. Walsh has said that he is going to run the option. Craft wouldn't know anything about the option.

If Craft leaves, it would be a blow to our recruiting efforts. Craft is the team's recruiting coordinator.

I saw posted on the Army message board that Bryan Cook, the head coach of West Point's Prep school is following Walsh to Cal Poly. Cook was brought to the Prep school by Bobby Ross. He was on Georgia Tech's staff for three years and he also coached at Lafayette. He ran the triple option at the Prep school. Maybe they will be co-coordinators.

I would imagine that he will bring Saga Tuitele with him to coach the O-line or D-line. He was not retained by Ellerson at Army.

We should know more in the next couple of days.

I got a chance to meet coach Walsh and I came away very impressed. I think that Cal Poly did well hiring Tim Walsh.

Craft is staying at Portland State.

This has been a great day for Viking athletics: Coach Bone signs a five-year extension and if this is true, Craft stays at Portland State, too.

Ex-PSU football coach gets going as new head man at Cal Poly

Cal Poly announced five new assistants. I think all but one will be familiar to most here. The defensive coordinator is Greg Lupfer. Co-Offensive coordinator/O-line coach is Saga Tuitele. WR coach is former PSU QB Justin Wood. RB coach is former Jesuit HS/Boise State RB Aristotle Thompson.

What do you think?

I think Glanville should have kept Lupfer. Good to see former Vikings continuing their coaching careers.

I have had the opportunity to meet coach Walsh a few times and I came away impressed. You can tell he loves what he is doing and he is passionate about it. I think he was a good hire by Cal Poly.
