It does my heart proud to see the need to bring in extra seating for a non-Montana/non-playoff game. I have a feeling the Weber players and coaches are going to need counseling after their Cheney visit. I suspect Coach Graham and his Hammer Family are going to be a little nasty tomorrow.

I've also noticed that some of the acedemic departments have jumped on the bandwagon and are hosting tailgate parties to draw attention to their programs. In other words, this football program is making a difference throughout the entire University and greater region. I sincerely hope that acedemic and other departments recognize how much the football team is doing for them and give their full support to the program when it needs it (Gateway Project). The entire community benefits, just ask Gonzaga.

Great post “56n92”. Very exciting times for EWU these days.

Some factors that might be driving the anticipated bump in attendance at Roos Field tomorrow, hence the need for the additional bleachers in the south endzone. The first and obvious factor is that the EAGS are a great football team and are exciting to watch. Some other factors that might improve the draw from the Spokane area are the Cougars are on the road at California and got embarrassed by Stanford last week. The Vandals are home, but will get trucked by Fresno State. Also, the griz are home but I suspect there is a big pool of griz fans in Spokane that are really on the fence between the EAGS and the griz these days. I suspect that many people who once claimed allegiance to the griz are gravitating over to the better, more exciting EAGS brand of football.

I heard the Griz may bring in extra seating for their game against us this year to try and set the attendance record, shows how far we have come to bring in that kind of a crowd...

I wasn't at the Sam Houston State game, but the announcers said Eastern came with a travel party of 1,000 people. If that was in any way close to accurate, that is a huge sign of progress.

Do you say that based on your previous visits to Stewart Stadium or something else?

Wonder where the rest of the EWU fans were sitting?

Not sure where that rumor came from. We set the attendance record this year against App. State - 26,293 with no temp seating. The only time we ever had temp seating was for a couple of Cat/Griz games prior to our last stadium expansion.

Looks like the tickets for the EWU game this year aren't considered a "premium game" so they should be about $15 cheaper than past years if you can get them....ought to be good news for your fans wallets.

Yesterday's crowd was a true sellout with no empty seats. I can remember prior to 2004, driving up up an hour before game time and parking practically anywhere you'd like. I can remember not that long ago having to share the parking lot with Griz tailgaters. Times have changed indeed .

U of M must have used all the premium tickets for the Oklahoma Panhandle State game.

Nope those tickets were about $10 less than the EWU game but were still able to make the school more than when Iowa payed us $650K for a road game in 2006. Offers from FBS schools are much less than that now so the administration doesn't see a need to schedule them, especially when the gate from yesterdays homecoming game and App. St. were each over a million. Looks like homecoming and Cat/Griz will be the premium games in 2014.

Agreed. The griz likely have the highest ticket prices of any FCS school. So high, some griz fans complain they can’t afford to travel to home games anymore.

High class problems for the Griz.

A major problem for Eastern is that they can't charge much more for GA tickets because some of the seating in the current arrangement is simply awful.... bad views, bad seats, etc.

Some of the new upgrades will pay for themselves in revenue. I guarantee a lot more fans would be incentivized to come out if they knew they weren't going to be seated on cold aluminum staring over player's helmets.

Waited till 4 weeks ago to get tickets to this game. Surprised me that the best I could get was on those tin seats on the visitors side on the very end. Last time I sat on those was in 1976. Those are terrible....simply terrible. On a positive note it was great to see Vic and his daughter get recognized at halftime for; Vic Wallace will be given the Eastern Athletics Hall of Fame Service and Contribution Award. It was nice to see the new inductee's into EWU's Hall of Fame as well. And a great crowd to boot!! Had to park pretty far from the field(an hr. and a half before kickoff) but just as we started to walk a courtesy shuttle stopped and picked us up and delivered us to the front...sweet. As Kalm mentioned, it wasn't that long ago we could get to game just before kickoff and park on the street a couple of blocks away.

I heard they are bringing in bleachers from the fairgrounds, but who knows, may be a rumor...

The Griz gave EWU a lot more tickets this year than normal for the game, so who knows...

It will be a great game, can't wait!
