We all know, the Duft extension was a terrible decision. We all knew nothing would change and nothing will. Under a different coach this team would be at the top of the league (the Sky is awful, terrible, no good this year).

It’s time for Crompton to step down. He’s the problem with Wildcat Athletics. Duft definitely needs to go. That’s automatic! He should be given the Mental treatment and asked to step down now. No matter what happens the rest of the way, we need better, competent and engaging leadership. Not a washed up coach.

I know there are some “apologists” on here who like Crompton. I don’t know him but under him athletics has gone from premiere to forgotten. I say by Dillon last night and heard him say how empty the Dee was. It’s Time!

Isn't the Big Sky doing better this year than average, as far as where the teams are ranked? Not commonly seeing several teams around the top 150.

Crompton signed an extension through 2029 in August, so I don't think he is stepping down any time soon
That will change with a new President coming. The shitty old prez who left for Logan will now ruin that school. Timmy IMO will be shown the door within a year and if not that means whoever comes in is just as dumb when it comes to athletics. Crompton is the worst AD in all of college athletics by a long shot!!!

I purposely skipped the game last night, something I have not done literally in decades. I have no interest in this team or the coaching staff. They are not worth my time or money. Their mental effort on defense is the worst I have seen at WSU. Duft should be no more than a career assistant coach. We should hire the Snow College coach ASAFP.

Everyone says how talented this team is, and I just don’t see it. They missed 11 straight three point attempts to start? That’s not talent. Sure the coaching is terrible, but talent can overcome some of that. Utah Tech came in with two local kids that handed the “talented” Wildcats their asses. I’ll take scrappy with a chip on their shoulder players before so called talented players.

I get some players were sick last night, but you know what, other teams get sick and tough it out. I played some hockey games at Weber State with fevers and ligament strains. I even once went tried to stay on the roster for a game to help a flu-ridden team but was removed minutes before game time as I was puking my guts out in the locker room. I know there are some football players on this forum who probably did the same or played because there was no concussion protocol.

I don’t see scrappy players like Brad Barton (Cravens time) any more. Weber State definitely needs a new coach in bball and get a new AD, but they need to change the players they are bringing in because I’m just impressed at all. The defenses were awesome in the good days…they are so soft now!

Personally, I wasn’t at the game on Thursday. Actually, I haven’t been to a basketball game this season (I didn’t miss a home game for well over a decade). Basketball is treading in the wrong direction and it has been really sad watching it waste away. I really like Tim, and had expected him to build on what had been built. Hasn’t happened. He’s only hired one coach who has done something. And that guy is going into year 2 (I don’t count House. She was the coach in waiting.). Attendance is nothing. Student interest zero. Alumni involvement minimal. Little to no plans for developing programs, facilities, or interest. Good heavens, athletics did zip for signing day. Sad sad sad…I can’t find anything to defend Coach.

As for Duft…he was a train wreck before being hired. He was the reason behind Rahe never making the jump from good to great. Rahe was always as good as his top assistant. Dont get me wrong, Randy was a good coach and I’m grateful he served Weber but the worst thing about him was Duft and that continues.

A post on Facebook/Weber State Fans recently caught my attention, citing a Feb 5 '26 'College AD' sports news topic that states: "A look at the contract extension Weber State quietly gave AD Tim Crompton last year". UGH!! Not reading further without subscribing, that was enough for my suspicions as to lazy VP Tarbox (fortunately now retired), & Pres. Mortensen (gladly gone to USU) sharing in administrative failure that's arguably led Wildcat FB/BB athletics to decline to rock bottom status with fans!

So fellow forum fans, maybe I'm the only one ignorant here, but that confirms it starts from the top down thru the AD with this bad management performance results of these past few dud years.

Credit where it is due, they played so much better tonight. NAU is the worst team in the league but the Wildcats defense was much more active and made fewer mistakes. I still didn't go to the game, and judging by the crowd not many others did either but at least it was a much better effort.
