Top 10 list for 2014

Definitely not polished. They should've had someone check the editing. In any case, these early rankings are always going to be highly subjective and heavily based on last seasons performance. But I think that 1 and 2 are likely the true preseason rankings when they come out. And I hope that SHSU is ranked in the top 10 at the start of the season to add to some of the intrigue of the game on 8/23.

But honestly, it won't surprise me at all to see UM ranked #3. I think they have a favorable schedule. They have some initial challenges in Wyoming and NDSU, but I think both of those games are winnable by the Griz, and if that's the case, they could likely be undefeated by before facing late season challenges against Cal Poly, EWU, and MSU, of which I think they drop at least one and maybe two.

I think EWU has the potential to have another outstanding season. I just hope they don't let their greatness go to their heads and play humble. I think they will because Beau Baldwin is a master at setting the right mentality in his teams. And if that's the case, I think their chances of going to, and winning the NC are the best I've ever seen! But I had similar expectations in 2005 after EWU's playoff run beating #1 SIU and dominating SHSU for 3 quarters in a game they should've won. But in 2005 they bowed out in the first round! This is the most talented EWU team I've ever seen. As long as they keep their heads, that shouldn't happen.

With all do respect to NDSU, they will not be the dominant team we've seen the last three years, IMO. They've lost A LOT, and the new head coach has not proven he can win. They'll be a playoff team, probably ranked in top 10, but I really don't see another NC for them this season.

Wow, that was painful to read. I guess NDSU deserves to be in the top spot until proven otherwise, but I doubt they'll be there when all is said and done. They'll still be a very good team but they graduate something like 24 Seniors and have a new coaching staff. If they can make it back to the title game again, that'll be really impressive.

I'm no Montana fan, but it'd be great to see them go into the FargoDome and beat the Bizums.

Hell yeah, two BigSky teams in the top three.

I'll take it 8-)

Griz have the makings of a really good team, biggest issue for the Griz is the schedule, games at wy, at ewu, at ndsu, at msu, at poly....

EWU should be really good as well, much easier schedule than the griz too...

Big Sky will run through UM/EWU this year...

I know everyone is trying to fill the football void, but rankings in May?

Don't overestimate Montana. O-line issues. Small, inexperienced linebackers, and a weak secondary. The griz better hope their QB is durable.

Keeler is a hell of a coach as we all know, when we played Delaware for the National Championship. Baldwin is better, but none of this matters until we play them on the field this year. SHSU should be ranked ahead of Montana, though. We'll see how it all plays out. Will be a fun ride.

This year, we'll know everything about our team after the very first game. The Kats will be a good opponent to measure the rest of the season. I know our offense will be even more explosive with an ever-improving running game, but I am betting we'll finally see the shutdown defense we've been looking for the last two postseasons. Finally, most of our more dangerous opponents have lost their best players while we move forward. No Sankey, Price or ASF at UW. No Zach Bauman at NAU. No Cody Kirk at MSU. No Tripp or Coyle at UM. No Bell, Sincere or Flanders at SHSU. Sure there could be a misstep this year, but I can't think of another season where the stars were aligned like this.

We should be in for a special year. An epic win over UW would just be a cherry on top.

Just as big if not bigger than not having Cody Kirk, MSU will be without McGhee. I think MSU is going to have a losing season.

Lot of teams on that list that lost their big guns.

UNI, UNH, Nova, and SELU, should all be really good.

Defense.....Both the Eags and UM can move the ball on ANYONE. But ANYONE can move it on them based on what we saw in the playoffs last year.

Talked with a NDSU fan at the NCAAs in Spokane and said they have lost a LOT. Realistic expectations among the fan base is to get the playoffs.

EWU needs Montana to be good in Nov to prep for playoffs.
