Been watching eagle football for the past 8 years always had a vested interest. Most guys posting on here were either ex-players or alumni and bleed Eagle red as do I. Those of you who are the supreme optimists I tip my hat to you, true Eagle supporters, others that have been not so optimistic I understand your disappointment. Speaking for myself, I am somewhere in the middle of those groups. The product and effort this year seems so sub-par for a Baldwin team, very little emotion on the sidelines and even less on the field. The defense or lack of has been am embarrassment, hasnt improved and seems to be slacking with effort. The offense, which was able to bailout the D in the past has been dismal as well of late, so un-Baldwin like I ask myself whos behind the wheel this year.Sticking with West these past 3 or 4 games leaves me scratching my head as to why? One must remember that West was a walk-on for a reason and that reason is now apparent. I'm not bashing the young man have met Jordan and have high regard for his efforts. The season may not be lost but challenges lie a head for this team and this coaching staff. To win one of the last two games this year and become playoff illegible seems to be a stretch. As others have posted would probably go down the first game anyways. This is Griz week and they are looking for revenge in a big way and with the effort weve put on the field these past few weekends it could be an ass kicking ! Enough said. I agree, good coaching will fix the issues on the offensive side. it's a leap to assume the same on the defensive side of the ball.

Our defense continues to be an embarrassment to D1 football and it's not the players, IMO. The grass is not always greener on the other side. New defense-worst results. if Graham was still DC, would we have been this bad? I don't think we would.
As I recall the complaint on Graham's style was to keep everything in front and not allow any big plays, and that the Eagles were not aggressive enough there were not enough blitz'. How much different are we now?
I've been impressed with our red zone defense and any obvious short yardage plays.
Give the D some credit. Since the Cal Poly game they have been pretty good.
My concern is still the offense, not growing, no edge, actually regressing IMO.

I generally listen to the games on the internet feed...so have not attended any games except Oregon, and have only seen the games televised on ROOT. Can anyone here tell me if defenses have made any obvious changes/adjustments in how they play the Eagles that West and the offense are having difficulty overcoming? I doubt the QB is "regressing" as some have said, but something is different. I'm rooting for you, Jordan! That all being said, I think the Griz are in for a much different Eagle team this Saturday. Can't wait!

With all due respect, the QB play has regressed under West. The down field threat has been non existent, he's standing flat footed in the pocked and staring down the receivers, and he's literally afraid to take off and gain yardage with his legs. He looks nothing like the guy that played against Oregon and we have the same players.

At first, I thought it was the weather that caused him to be more cautious, but that was obviously not the problem on Saturday. Without the threat of going down field, opponents are stacking the middle and playing against short passes, which also doesn't allow our running game to get going.

Couldn't agree more with this post. well said. I have been calling for Hennessey on this board for weeks. Its so clear he is a better QB talent than West, it's just a damn shame it took Beau too long to notice it.

Hennessy may not have been 100% healthy to start in the past few weeks, don't always be so sure. I'm excited to see him in misoula.

I don't know if it's as much West as we just cannot seem to get a consistent run game going. One poster mentioned that it doesn't matter who is at QB, if we can't get better balance, it is going to limit us offensively, and we will struggle to be successful. That being said, I think Hennessey's mobility adds a little more dimension to the offense, and right now, we need all the help we can get.

I would personally start Hennessey against the Griz, and see if that gives the spark we need to pull out a win or two to end the season. Additionally, it would give him some additional game reps in some high pressure situations, and that experience will come in handy if we can make it to the playoffs this year.

All that being said, even if we get a bit more offense going, if the defense doesn't produce more stops, turnovers, and three and outs, it will be a short second season, if we make it that far!

Good post. I'm not sure who you start but regardless, the hook is present. This makes Jordan work even harder and forces Montana to prep for both which ain't a bad thing.

Listening to the coaches show last night there was zero suggestion of a QB change which is not surprising.

Wouldn't be surprised to see both.

tgis a solid front 7 we're facing so whoever it is better be prepared to get rid of it quickly and/or be elusive.

In truth, we still managed to score 30 points last weekend. That should be enough to win games. I realize it's unrealistic to expect our defense to hold much of anyone with a decent offense under 30 with the guys on the field this year, but we have got to eventually get a defense that can do just that.

I fear that even Montana's sluggish offense will score plenty and hold the ball and grind out first downs and do all of the things to our defense that everyone else has... When our defense stays on the field for 15 minutes of real time every drive, it's hard for our offense to find a rhythm.

I was hoping prior to the NAU game that we just hadn't had a fire lit because we were capable of beating some of the crappy Big Sky teams by simply showing up and going through the motions, and that when we finally faced a test, we'd respond. Well, unfortunately that didn't happen. We get another test this weekend. I'm hoping we show some real character and come out and play hard for 60 minutes on both sides of the ball. If we do that, I'll be happy win or lose. However, after seeing Montana play a few times this year, I'd suspect playing at our best for 60 minutes earns us a comfortable win.

Where the hell is the team that showed up against Oregon and came out flying around and making plays? Bring that team back, and we should win the next two. IF the team that played NAU shows up, we can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

Has anyone really took a look at the injury report...We are playing with most of our second and third line guys. We need to establish a running game but we are on our 5th RB.

Why are we inured so much ???? IS it our off season ?? WHY !!!!

Our D is doing fantastic considering it hasn't been the same starting 11.

I think we are about as healthy as we've been all year going into the Montana game.

Wilson and Moore both played against NAU and will play against UM, they are our starting RB's.

I think our O line is finally healthy again and besides Lino i think our D-Line is fine and Lino may be back this week.

Our D has not been doing a fantastic job, regardless, because they can't get off the field. We are giving up 38 ppg which is a joke.

I keep hoping we put together a great game one of these days because we have the talent to win it all. Maybe this will be the week...
