Very interesting thread over at eGriz.

I happen to agree with the guy. I used to think it pretty cool and bad ass to see players out there with bare arms acting like bad weather doesn't affect them. Clearly, there's no way it doesn't. Even most of the Griz fans agree and with their weather, they ought to know.

Without pointing out numbers, I thought it blatantly obvious on a few plays that weren't made last game, that the players not making the plays were clearly affected by the cold. They were slower and less willing to "lay it all out". They also happened to be playing sleeveless. Coincidence? I think not. Pretty obvious the UM fans on their board saw that in their game as well.

Our players need to take advantage of everything they can that helps keep their bodies functioning at or near 100%. If that means not looking as "tough", then so be it.

That egriz thread is ironic given the 100s of posts they had last week about how the weather was going to affect Coastal Carolina.

I guess "Loud and Cold" lost to "Smart and Skilled"

You are exactly right Dozy. We often speak of "mental toughness", which really translates into smart = tough.

Never really thought about it, but my own experience backs up the assertion that it is better to take all necessary opportunities to fend off the cold and stay loose and warm to enhance performance. Good post Dozy. Smart and tough beats tough and cold.

I'm not sure about this. I think every individual handles cold differently. Pretty sure Forte went sleeveless, and ripped off over 200 yards on the ground.
