Eastern Washington gets a 13 seed (surprise?) vs. Georgetown in Portland Thursday...in same South Region as Utah (5 seed) vs. SF Austin...CBS sportscaster gave positive mention of Eagles team & Harvey...BYU is in a playoff game (though for 11 seed spot) vs. Ole Miss on Tuesday... FYI :coffee:

A 13 seed does not surprise me at all. The BSC was much stronger this year than last and there were some quality OOC wins along the way. Our quality OOC wins are usually more impressive than some other leagues who play home games only.

I hope that Eastern represents us well. Go Eagles!

Oh no. NAU will be without its coach for this important game!

I really like Eastern Washington's chances at beating Georgetown. Eastern has a 5 hour bus ride, where Georgetown is having to go 3 time zones and to the opposite coast. Georgetown has a history of getting upset in the opening round. Harvey is a big time player that can put on a performance much like the Show did in 1999 against North Carolina. The big factor for Eastern will be defending the post and staying out of foul trouble. We will see if Jois is up to the task. As much as I cannot stand Baby Hayford, I am rooting for and picking eagles to win.

I think the Big Sky was shown a little love this year by the selection commitee.

The Big Sky got a lot of love. Granted, at one point in the season, Eastern was getting top 25 votes and had some pretty substantial wins and close losses. Nonetheless, how bad the Sky's overall RPI is, it is really shocking that Eastern got the seed they did. But, like you, I'm hoping to see the Eagles play a good game and pull off an upset. I'm not really seeing it as an upset, because I fully expect Eastern to beat a Georgetown team that is over-rated. If, and this is a big if, Eastern plays their game and can hit their outside shots, Georgetown will be in trouble. They just don't match up with the Eagles very well. Georgetown's biggest area is in bigs, but I think Eastern has the depth to play the Hoyas.

This is the year of the Eagle. Gotta wonder about Eastern...it seems everything is going right for them. They are competing in every sport and it is virtually a lock that they will end up getting another President's Cup. They are living, as Karl would say, "La Vida Loca!" Is it administration?? What is driving the Eagle Resurgence and why is Weber failing so badly at everything? Finally, some of our Spring Sports are really getting the Cats back on track, but too late and too little. I'm thinking 2015-16 will be a better year overall for our programs.

Looks like Rahe is still in the running for the USU head coach position and now Nevada. I know it was a down year, but he's still in consideration for a couple of head coaching spots.

So is Tommy Connor and Tim Duryea.

I'm pretty sure that Rahe doesn't want the USU job. Now Nevada...that is a bit interesting. My guess is that the above mentioned guys get the two openings. In other words, Coach Rahe isn't going anywhere.

Eastern appears to be one of the sexy upset picks by the pundits.

glad to see sac in a post season. hope they can win and somehow get a home game (if possible) or at least make a run.

ewu getting a 13 is nice. maybe griz arent too mad not getting it done after last ncaa appearance. ewu was a 15 last time, in 2004.

big sky always gets 12-16 but lately it seems like its mostly been 14-16.

Where the hell are you getting this supposed info or are you just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks?

He found a note from Barnes at Utah State when he was doing coaches post game laundry last week.

Supposedly, well according to usufans (they are as reliable as we are with university information) the head coach has been selected. They claim...the reason there hasn't been an announcement is because the selected coach's present team is still playing. Which would mean that Rahe isn't the guy. Also, Rahe makes more at Weber than the recently laid off coach at Nevada made. Why would he want to go to Reno to make less? And besides...it is Reno. I am worried about other programs though.

By the way...loved Barnes interview on Saturday. What a tool. Yikes, that has got to be one of the worst, most awkward, interviews I have watched in a while.

The new USU coach hire I am sure had to pass the "eye test". My hell. How many times did Barnes say eye test in that interview?

Look, I am a big fan of Randy Rahe BUT I have a hard time seeing where ANY A.D. would hire Rahe right now. Let's face it, after a 13-17 regular season and finishing 8th in the Big SKy, that isn't exactly an easy sale to any fan base looking for change in their program whether it be Nevada, USU, or someone else. :twocents:
