I've never been able to get an answer on this.

Why did BLM and Kyle Padron transfer from SMU as starting QB's. Was there more to the story? Were they backups? It seems like an awfully long way away and definitely a very strange school to pick at the time, at least for BLM, we hadn't done anything terribly exciting in the preceding 2 years.

Any thoughts or insight to ease my inquisitive mind?
 
If memory serves me correctly, BLM transferred because Padron took over the starting role at SMU. Then the same thing happened to Padron.

Q: The battle for the starting quarterback position is down to five, how do you like your chances?

A: “I am going to get out there and do everything I can to make sure I am the No. 1 guy. We all know there are big shoes to fill with Matt leaving, and just the quarterback tradition at Eastern in general. I think I can be that next guy and I think I can carry us to that next level on the national stage.”

This. BLM was recruited by Eastern out of high school. When he decided to transfer from SMU, he gave Coach B a call.
