Also, Rahe treats instate recruits like instate opponents. He doesn’t give a rats behind about either. His attitude towards players and games says a lot.

Why did he recruit RIley Court and Spencer Johnson then?

Body bags for practice.

Randy Rahe is 0-12 against BYU, a team comprised of RM's. What is there about those numbers that he can't understand about RM's capabilities? Sure, Dusty was somewhat successful, but was used mainly as a defender and spot-up shooter. I only hope for the entire Weber State hoops community that Randy will allow Spencer Johnson and Tim Fuller to rep Weber's RM's to the rest of the state. I don't know much about Fuller since he's from Arizona, but Johnson is going to be a star. I have watched him many times in Utah HS hoops. He is better than TJ Haws (BYU), better than Jaxon Brenchley (Utah), better than Sam Merrill (USU). He has an incredible all-around game, and barring injury and Rahe's inability to see his value, he will produce at high levels.

Personally I would be really disappointed if Court left. Tal is right about the redshirt. I honestly think he would be a fan favorite because of his all-out attitude when he is playing.

My take on the recent influx of RMs in the program is that the Y has had a huge roster management problem on their hands for several years. The U and USU aren't as aggressive in recruiting kids that are going on missions as they once were. So in recent years the quality of the in-state player we can get has improved. I would hope that Johnson and Fuller both have successful careers with us, but maybe Rahe needs to change some of his expectations as it doesn't take as long to get back in playing shape as it does to get your quickness back and fine-tune your game. Baker had the advantage of working that first year out at a JC before coming here.

Although it does happen, it's a rare RM who can contribute right off a mission. It's rare for a freshman, let alone a freshman RM.

It takes players in our program 2+ years just to look comfortable in the offense. By that time there is a 50% they will be gone by that point.

I hate it when great kids transfer! I hate it!
On another note, I know Zion Young (3☆), formerly of Wasatch Academy. Now in Chicago, has not committed. Zion has several offers including UTEP. My son went to Wasatch with Zion before Zion transferred. The boys write each other. He says Zion is holding out for an offer from Weber State or USU. He really wants to play with his "bro", Cody John.
I'm not saying a word to my son, no violations for me. It would be nice to have a talented kid at WSU that has a desire to be here.
Anyone have a coaches ear? Hmmm

If Zion is friends with Cody, I'm sure that he has told our coaches about him. I'm also sure that they had seen him while he was at Wasatch. Just looking at his highlight video, I would say that he surely has a lot of potential. It looks like he finishes at the rim well and has a nice outside shot. However, these guys never seem to miss in their highlight films. Signing starts on the 11th of April. If anyone wants to get on our list of potentials, They need to do it real soon. I suspect that commitments will be coming through within the next week or so, if not already. :coffee:
