ISU needs to get its tail in gear... they have the lowest TV visibility of any BSC program.

There are stations devoted to Montana State (Max Media), Montana (KPAX and CW), Eastern Washington (SWX) and Northern Arizona (NAU-TV). Other stations pick up games for Northern Colorado (Altitude), Sacramento State (Comcast) and Portland State (Comcast).

Has local television ever aired a Bengal football game or even picked up a feed from one of these other sources?

I would just say that generally, picking up a feed of ISU on the road will ordinarily cost an arm and a leg, and since Big Sky TV (online...I know the quality isn't often very good) exists...unless athletic departments have thousands of extra dollars to spend, they're probably going to ask their fans to watch online. And until ISU has a program that wins enough to sell the advertising it would take to pay for TV games, we likely won't see it. Another item to consider is how much gate you lose if you broadcast home games on local TV. If you're sold out game after game...no big deal, but even BSU blacks out home games.

By the way...the football game at BYU will be on BYUtv...the only BYU game this year not on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPN Networks.

I've broadcast two ISU games on local TV -- in 1986, Jim Fox and I did the ISU-BSU game from the dome. In 1995, we simulcast the Ole Miss game through a deal cut by Bill Kalivas through the local cable company.

In general, road games are prohibitively expensive (and you have to buy the rights from the home team). And unless you're Montana or Montana State and selling out every home game, you're not going to want TV to compete with your live gate. As Jerry noted, until ISU builds the program to the point where it's selling out home games, you're probably not going to see local stations broadcasting home games.

A couple of years ago, Altitude was trying to get a foothold on Idaho cable systems, so they broadcast a ton of ISU games. But they are apparently now more focused on the Colorado markets, hence the emphasis on N. Colorado. The Big Sky pays Altitude to carry select conference games, and I've noticed the number of games is going down considerably, probably a sign of the economic times.

This might be more up to date......... http://www.bigskyconf.com/sports/2011/8/1/FB_0801114127.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Right now the easiest way to get the home games on local tv would be to delay broadcast them. As for away games like votb says it expensive to broadcast a game. The university would not pick the tab for the broadcast, you would need local sponsors to pay for the cost of the broadcast. I don't know if the local station 3.6.8 would want to lose their network sports to ISU, but with digital TV now 6 has a second channel Universal Sports channel (I think thats the name), 8 has a second channel that they rerun their news. But once again if you can get the time you need the sponsorship.
If you did get a feed from an away station you would probably have to listen to the home teams announcers, don't think that they would want to add votb audio to a show, that would take up a server or tape machine and an additional audio channel, not impossible, but a pain in the butt to mix audio signals.
Maybe sometime in the future, it will happen, but alot depends on the team and who is willing to pay.
