Is he 100% healthy and ready to go for next year.I followed his career in BC and he has lots of ability if healthy.

I also like Mara, but he does seem to be a tweener. Too small to be a power forward and not quick enough to be a small forward. Not a knock on him, just an observation. Hope he proves me wrong.

It will be interesting to see if he bulks up some more between now and next season. He bulked up quite a bit this last year and if Bone ever wants to go with a big lineup, he could add some size at the three spot.

He plays four, and does it well on the defensive end. The only way he's moving to the three is if he greatly expands his range.

I think he's got good range. He doesn't have Kamara or Hafford range, but I bet he could out shoot Coston. He is definitely a 3-4 player, depending on our lineup. If we are going with a small, fast lineup, he'd be the 4. With a bigger lineup, he'd move to the 3. He's definitely a more inside, pounding player than Coston, who is more outside, quickness player.

Big Lineup:
C - Morrison
PF - Tiefenthaler/Moore/Thomas
SF - Mara/Coston
SG - Lucas/Huff
PG - Jenkins

Small Lineup:
C - Tiefenthaler/Thomas
PF - Mara/Coston
SF - Huff
SG - Lucas/Smith
PG - Jenkins

I like either lineup. Here's hoping Bone doesn't out coach himself with these options.

I think Waters will have his work cut out for him because when he becomes eligible Jenkins will be a junior and don't forget that Dominguez who was the player of the year in Oregon a few years ago will be a senior. At any rate we will be very deep at point..

I didn't add in either Waters or Nelson, as they will have to redshirt this year. The lineups above are for the '07-'08 season.

I think with the current roster, Moore will definitely be the backup center, not power forward. Also, there's no way Coston or Mara will play the 3 to start a game unless there's an injury or eligibility issue. Echoing the others, I wouldn't count out Dominguez at the point either.

I agree that Mara would not see a start at the 3 spot, but more of a role as Bone makes a decision to go big later in the game.

Regarding Dominguez at the point...

I side with you. I was not impressed with Jenkins' minutes at the point this year.

My bad, you're right. Waters has to sit out a season.

Don't get your hopes up for JD at the point. As a follower of both UP and PSU, I can tell you he's good for a nice change of pace off the bench and the occasional hot streak from behind the arc, but he's a big defensive liability. Jenkins should be the better overall player this next year.

I hope Jenkins improves by next year, because I cringed everytime he went in the game last year. He was the one true freshman that could have used a redshirt year, definately wasn't ready, but on the other hand, Bone didn't have much of choice. He did show some potential in the final part of the season, but to be starting point guard, I don't know.

I agree. I sure hope that Jenkins' court vision and ability to deal with pressure on the ball improve. He did show some signs, but we need a guy that consistantly have positive assist/turnover ratios as the starting point guard.

True he did have flashes... Who were we playing at home toward the end of last season that Jenkins single handdly took over the game scoring 8 straight pts and lead us to victory.. I think it was MSU... That is what we need consistently

And confidence which is what our point lacked last season..

I'm sorry to say that I hear EJ may not be playing at all next year, unless he can pull a rabbit out of his hat in the scholastic end of things.

GO VIKS !!
