UC Davis Game

No one seems to want to start this thread so I will. I think UC Davis is a 3 1/2 point favorite including home field advantage. Two very evenly matched teams trying to decide if they end up with just a losing season or a disaster. Both teams have lots of potential. PSU beat ISU by a much greater score than UC Davis did for the only great differential. UC Davis is doing very well on defense and rapidly improving in rushing. We are very inconsistent in passing - anywhere from great to terrible depending upon the opponent.

Statistically, this game is a crap shoot.

I see our rush defense returning back to great after the Cal Poly game.

PSU by 10.

I'll go with Marty. The last quarter of the Poly game was embarassing. The defense will play a whole game this time. We're more likely to win by 20.

I think there has been a reluctance to start a thread because of the frustrations from the last quarter and a half of the Cal Poly game last week. Our glaring weakness is our pass defense. Our rush defense is usually very good. Poly racked up a lot of yards but they still averaged under 5 a carry. If your passing game is on I expect a very close game. Looking at your scores, we seemed to have played all our common opponents pretty close. Well with the exception of Idaho State (what happened there?). When I ask what happened, I am not trying to be a jerk, I'm just curious because I haven't been able to do much research on you guys this week since I've been so busy.

I think this game will be pretty close and on paper seems like an even match up. The slight edge might go to you guys because you are at home, but I think our balanced attack can give you guys fits. I'm going to predict 35-31 Vikes. I hope this is the case since I am making the drive down to Davis :-)

Our pass defense is weak and add that we have been inconsistent on pressuring the QB. The offense should shoulder some of the blame too by maintaining possession of the football.

Aggie QB Wright gets flustered with good pass rushes but without a lot of pressure he can be very good. Our defense let up in the Idaho State game but otherwise has been pretty good. Our rushing game is rapidly improving. Should be beautiful weather on Saturday - bring some sunglasses. We have always had competitive games with Portland State over the years.

Nigel's Defense gives up 75 yards in 12 plays first possession. Tied 7-7. C'mon offense. Need to score in the 40s to have a chance.
