UC Davis meltdown

Over on the Aggies board, they are melting down over their two losses and some are now thinking they will only win 2 or 3 games. Welcome to 1AA...not as easy a transition as they thought. Its taken us a decade to get competitive other than the Charles Roberts/Ricky Ray era when we had some amazing players.

We are mired in mediocrity and seem to have lost a sense of who we are. We do not seem to be making progress in becoming a winning program at this level despite Biggs' excitement about his last few recruiting classes.

And somehow other schools keep firing coaches, finding new ones, and jumping right past us (Sac, SUU, PSU, etc).

I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!!!

Exactly. I've been saying that for years. Once they started playing by D-I rules, its a lot harder than it looks.

This is the smartest thing I have ever heard an aggie say -- Ever! "We are not good, we haven't been ever since we went FCS," brilliant!!! And, I love the usage of mire. I tell you what they are mired in......their own bull feces. Go Hornets!

Yet,

I will say, though, that as much as we needed the Big Sky to survive, they should also feel privileged to have us and Poly in their conference.

It's about time they woke up and smelt the manure. I sure bet they will miss padding the win column with the USD's, UND's, NC Central's, and all the other transition teams of the FCS world come 2012. They will go from playing tough competition 3/4 times a season to 8/9 times a season.

I also thought it was funny to see all the "Denham is gone so now we have a real QB" in the pre-season to "Denham screwed this offense" after week 2. Why anyone thought losing a proven QB is a good thing is beyond me...but then again I guess that type of "logic" is the norm over there.

I have to admit I was pretty shocked by that as well over the summer. They lost their two stud WR's and a really good QB right before camp, yet some of their fans were expecting playoffs?

Now they could still turn it around, but I think their fans are seeing how hard it is to make the jump. It's easy to sneak up on teams when you play a D-II schedule and then fire your team up for a few big games a year. Davis flourished in that role...but now that it's a tough schedule every week for them and they're not sneaking up on anyone anymore, its been a struggle.

Sac used to get so beat up in Sky play and then have to play Davis at the end of the year, and they would rip us. It'll be interesting to see how they adjust to the new conference.

...or don't hopefully

Here is another good one....to go from $800K+ to $150K, brilliant!

"I see the planets aligning next year, with this being the last year of Hawkins contract at Colorado. No FBS program will touch him with a ten foot pole, but people quickly forget it wasn't Chris Peterson who developed the Boise program, it was his boss, Hawk. Time for Hawkins to come home, rebuild, and actually do some recruiting (hope he doesn't have any more high school quarterback kids)."

....attributed to delusional UCFE poster.
