Weber is 0-1 all-time vs Davis. In 2004 we lost 31-29 and they were still DII.

UC-Davis
4th season since moving up from DII
record 1-2
loss to Cal 52-3
loss to Portland St 41-33
win vs San Diego 38-24

QB Randy Wright #17 (redshirt freshman)is 42-77 54.5%, 520 yds passing, 4 TDs, 4 INTs, 11 rushes for -21 yds
RB Josh Reese #22 (junior) 137 yds in 3 games on 32 carries with a 4.2 average, 3 TDs
WR Sean Creadick #82 (senior)leads the team in receptions with 12 on the season for 171 yds for an average of 14.25 p/catch, 1 TD

in the win against San Diego they had 4 TO's, 390 total yds, 204 passing, 186 rushing, 10 penalties for 100 yds, 19 1st downs and 3-8 on 3rd.

in the loss vs Portland State they had 4 TO's, 331 total yds, 261 passing, 70 rushing, 17 1st downs and 5-11 on 3rd. PSU HAD 0 PUNTS IN THE GAME.

The Cal game tells us absolutely nothing

They played without senior Joe Trombetta (against Cal and San Diego) the team's leading returning rusher and second-most productive receiver in 2009, because of a hamstring injury sustained during camp. He played in their 2nd game, vs PSU, he only had 3 attempts then didn't play in the 3rd game.

Davis roster:
13 seniors
20 juniors
25 sophomores
38 freshman

This young team is almost identical to WSU's roster.

Ratings/Rankings
Massey: Davis #55, WSU #27
ComputerRating: Davis #47, WSU #23
Sagarin: Davis #165, WSU #149

neither are ranked in top 25 polls. i believe this will be our first week to not be ranked since oct 3, 2008.

Thanks for the info, very interesting to say the least.....

Ok its time to start playing Wildcat football, the team needs to pull thier heads out of thier A$$es and start playing smart football.

Defense come on you need to learn how to stop the run.

Higgins stop overthrowing and underthrowing everyone.

Recievers start looking the ball in, if you catch the Ball HOLD ON TO IT.

All in all the team just needs to start playing smarter football, if we continue to play like this we wont go far, we are probably only allowed one more fcs loss to still be playoff elegible(SP?) But we are going to face much stronger opponenets than Sac (kudos to them for winning) in the VERY near futur. We are on life support.

In most years, seven DI wins is the minimum number necessary to qualify for an at-large invitation. Autobids, of course, are extended to participating autobid conference winners regardless of the number of DI wins. My guess, however, is that the eventual Big Sky conference champ will have at least six conference victories.

Since Weber scheduled no lower division teams this year, the Wildcats could still lose two more games and make the playoffs. Seven wins, however, is no guarantee.

After everything I have read about UC-Davis, it sounds to me that IF WSU plays Wildcat football and takes care of their own business, then getting a win shouldn't be a problem. Lets just hope they can figure their own crap out before Saturday.
GO WILDCATS!!!

It's a given that Higgins will be one of the best if not the best QB in Weber State history, smashing every WSU and Big Sky record. And it is/has been awesome to have him as our QB for the past 4 years.

Watching him play that to me it seems his toughest throw is is the dump off to the rb in the flat. Is it the pressure he is feeling from the d-line, and he is hurrying the throw to not get sacked, is the rb running the route differently during the game than practice? It seems to me that this would be a pretty easy throw, but they miss-connect several times during the game on this pass.

The Sac State announcers mentioned that the passes at the feet of the receivers and db's might be from playing on a turf field that is flat instead of the curved grass field, but that doesn't make sense since WSU has the practice field that is turf...

RB hands may not be as good as in years past, too...

Personally, I'd like to see Cam run a couple of times per game. That would open up the receivers which inturn would open up the running game.

I was at the game and it appeared that Higgins didn't want to leave the pocket for some reason even when there was room to run. Is he 100%? I remember him as being fast and mobile, I was kind of surprised.

thats actually how higgins rolls minus his freshman year. he is moble bu he always stays in the pocket, i dont remember another QB so good at staying put. it also helps our o line rules.

He has evolved into a pocket passer, and who can blame him with the numbers he has put up, especially his sophmore season. That said I think he is still pretty mobile, he only has been sacked 3 times this year, one time each game. One thing I would like to see is more plays with him rolling out of the pocket with the option to hit a receiver on a slant or cross pattern or get some safe yards with his feet if the cb's stay on the receivers.

That is what I was talking about, it looked like he had some opportunities Saturday but he didn't take advantage of it. Good luck the rest of the season, you guys have a good team!
Remember to crush davis!!!!!!!!!!!!

Understood. Cam has matured and improved immensely since his freshman year. As I mentioned and another poster has said more accurately, I would like him to use his feet a coupla plays per game, especially on bootlegs.

Is this due to the playcalling from our OC???

We can only lose one more game in the FCS to make the playoffs, We still have Texas Tech on our Schedule, and if we lose 2 more FCS games we will finish 6-5, the playoffs will not take a 6-5 Weber State team, so we can only get one more FCS loss and a loss to Texas Tech and finish at 7-4 to stay in the hunt for a 3rd trip to the playoffs.

UC Davis doesn't have the pressure of worrying about the FCS playoffs - I think we've already kissed that goodbye. We're looking to win every game we can and try for a winning season and/or conference championship. Neither may be possible with the way the team has played so far. The offense is coming together slowly but the defense is a disaster. Unless things start to gel in this game, it will be a long season.

Maybe, but I think over the past two seasons, Cam has imposed perhaps just a little "too much" discipline upon himself to become a better passer. The great news is that he is much better than ever at going through his check down list of receivers. He makes better, faster and more accurate decisions. I am not wishing for a dramatic change, just a couple of plays or so per game.

GoAgs72 is right on the mark. Just last year, our D stopped Boise on several goal line stands. This year is a different story.

Wildcats, please, please, please, don't ever loose to Slack State again!
