Statistically this is going to be an even fight. Offensively we're evenly matched with a nod going to our running game and the 1-2 punch of Madison/Flanagen. Defensively I think we have a better run stop game and can use that to our advantage. This was tested at ND and showed that we can pack a lunch pail. D-backs and safeties will need to rise to the occasion and ball hawk but I believe we have the skill and talent to do so.

I'm comfortable with the fact that Tanner is an equal to the UCD QB. As much as I want our offense to shine the game will be won or lost on defense and the bend but don't break philosphy. We will need to get those one or two stops that will make the difference or a couple of key turnovers. The D unit is much improved but will be put to the test. Buckle up boys, have fun, and continue the fight!

Go BENGALS!

Turnovers are going to be key in this game as they are in any game, but especially this one. I do think this will be an offensive shootout though. Be it on ground or air, but points will be scored! UC Davis is good, but so are we and it's time to get some pay back for last year. They put a whoopin' on us at home and we need to return the favor. I sure hope our Bengals are reminded of that this entire week!

I agree this should be a shoot out and the difference will be based on whose D can force the turnovers and get the stops. This game has the potential to define the league champion.

The entire game day experience should be a blast. We are having the annual brewfest which features world class beers (need to purchase tickets ) so come on out to Davis and enjoy the game. The weather will be in the 80s at game time so leave your down jackets in Idaho!

Go Ags :).

Here’s some ammunition.

Colter picks UC Davis to win but ranks ISU 2nd and Davis 3rd. Covering all the bases.

Hawkins was on Boise radio this afternoon and said he hopes there's enough bulbs in the scoreboard.

I think we will know before halftime if we can win or not. UCD likes to start strong, they're going to try to keep our defense on the field. Which let's face it last week our defense looked like last year's defense.
I would love to hear from Coach Cooper as to why.
All that said if we have our typically slow 3rd quarter on offense, that could be the difference. Special teams has been mentioned but seriously blocked extra points and field goals has kept our kickers from special teams accolades too.

This game will determine ISU's season.
I'd love to see us man handle UCD! if we were at home I'd have no doubts, but UCD has that one distinct advantage.

Special teams need to come up big in this one. We've been flirting with kick returns and punt returns, unlike past years. We'd love to see a deep return or TD to shift momentum our way. Defensive turnovers a must have. Hey, a win is do-able.

Go Bengals!

Rob talked about UC Davis' defense yesterday on the coaches show. Says they are solid, a little light weight wise but they move around, shoot gaps, come at you from different angles.

More locker room material....score predictions

IDAHO STATE AT UC DAVIS
Chase: UC Davis 45, Idaho State 41

I actually like Idaho State's offense better than the UC Davis offense, but playing in a meaningful game -- on the road, no less -- is a new position for the Bengals. I'll take Davis in a close, high-scoring affair. If there is such a thing as a valuable loss, it could be here -- win or lose, Idaho State can learn a lot from this moment.

Sam: UC Davis 49, Idaho State 42

I hope the scoreboard operator has an ice pack ready for their fingers after this game. Both offenses are elite. But at the end of the day, UC Davis is the better overall team.

Brian: UC Davis 35, Idaho State 24

The Aggies look more and more like a Big Sky title threat, and Idaho State has been one of the biggest surprises of the FCS at the midway point. I think UC Davis puts this one away and people begin talking about the UC Davis-Eastern Washington game looming later this year.

So in other words, it's going to be another Madison Flanigan game! :D

I do believe that's the key right there. Can we keep their O off the field control the clock and keep them off balance with run/pass. Those 2 guys gotta chance to turn some heads tomorrow!! Run 'em over!

In all likelihood you will win on time of possession, most opponents beat us on that statistic. While our offense gets the attention, i think you will be surprised by our D. The defensive stats are very deceiving since once we get in the lead, Hawk starts substituting our 2s and 3s. Opponents move the ball much better on that group. I think the game will be decided based on how well your offense moves the chains against our starting D.

Come on out to Aggie Stadium. It should be a blast!

I can't wait for this game to start. I wish it started at 10am. It will be must see TV for sure with plenty of fireworks!

Bengals need to kick butt and take names : )
