This wasn't exactly Duke v North Carolina today, but I'll take it. Three straight.
I really thought that we'd be going home with a loss with the way that we came out into the second half. UCR really upped their defensive energy and were just pounding us down low with that number 54 Patton. I was impressed that we were able to get back on track and get the win.
Some thoughts:
- Good to see Harriel again, albeit not in green and white. Same ole Harriel, great defensive intensity and no shortage of confidence to shoot the ball. Since we got the W, it did make me smile to see him nail some threes early.
- Please send these officials back to the ymca. Terrible.
- While I certainly thought that this would be a loss five minutes into the second half, I must give credit to Geving in putting Moore on Patton with Parker in their for the help side. This won the game.
- Harvey had strong minutes today. I know he's not guy with the most bulk on the floor, but he can really elevate, and there was a couple instances today where if he were to just try to go for a hammer down dunk, he'd either nail it or get fouled. He has a knack for getting himself in great position to score/rebound, I think he just needs to ditch the finesse and use some power.
- Is it me or are a lot of the passes to Parker down in the paint very low so that he has to come up and can't make a quick move?
