UCLA at Pauly

tal, I had 'em losing by 31 (after being down by as many as 40) so I guess 23 isn't too bad, I guess.

SWeberCat02, Being out rebounded has developed into a chronic problem, however, combined with the dismal assist numbers game-after-game has become a terrible combination. Toss in the poor FT shooting (again) and the horrible shooting from 3-land (many of which were open looks) and that's a bad recipe against most teams, not just top-25 ones. I'm officially worried about BSC play. I still believe they are top-5 but not even close to #1.

Out rebounded in every game, minus that meaningless St Kathy's game. San Jose St even out rebounded us.

But according to Deetailgater if we just play a few more games our rebounding, assist, free throw, 3 point, leadership and chemistry will all get better.

Naturally playing more games some things will get better. You learn and build on things. But tonight, damn. With all the wide open looks we had and decent jump shots we took, we should have only lost by ten or so. I watch Senglin brick, I mean brick a wide open three, We actually had the extra pass and he missed everything. Stuff like this is just jaw dropping as to what is going on. UCLA is good but they gave us many open looks and we just gave the ball back

Well the good news for all Big Sky fans is the conference, after a brief, promising start, seems to be worse this year than last with no dominant teams, so the conference title is WIDE OPEN. The bad news, of course, is that the league is worse this year than last and the Big Sky champ will be lucky to avoid a play-in game.

The conference does NOT need another embarrassment like the UM vs 'cuse game last season; that's such bad exposure for the Big Sky.

Well....I suggest you don't tune in for tonights matchup between NAU and the # 1 in the nation, U of Arizona Wildcats.

I, for some reason, spent $40 on a student section ticket and am going tonight. It must be masocism. I expect to be one of possibly 12-15 people in attendance wearing NAU gear. I also expect the normal dose of U of A Wildcat frat boy douchebaggery on the way out of the stadium but am hoping that having my niece and aunt in attendance with me tempers it a bit.

This could make last year's 40 point loss like a pleasant endeavor. At least when you guys play your in-state big brothers, it more often than no turns out to be competitive.

Go Jacks!

PS - Even though Weber State and the U of Montana are having a slower start than hoped for, I still believe one of these two teams comes out on top. UNC and UND could be dark horses. I've seen no signs of anyone else stepping up in the Big Sky.

From what I saw last night (about 30 seconds into the second half) I was impressed. Gittens showed some real aggressiveness in getting to the rim. They attacked the zone pretty well. The rebounding (1st half) was pretty good. I thought they passed the ball well, too. Fortunately, I didn't see the melt down in the 2nd half. But the team I saw in the 1st half I would expect to win the Big Sky - even with Tresnak playing limited minutes, and Hajek still out.
I'm looking forward to the opening of conference play.

UCLA is really talented. They have four legitimate NBA players on their squad. I really don't see anyone challenging the Cats in the Sky based on talent, but. UNCO, UND, and Montan all have could shock the Cats also, we need to be wary of Eastern and possibly ISU.

Protecting home court will be critical, even more than normal, this year in the Big Sky. I don't see anybody going on the road as big favorites this season, unlike last year when Montana and Weber just had to show up. Every team in the league has major flaws going into conference play -- Montana can't rebound and the Wildcats can't pass.
