UIW

In this day and age you have to be able to score more than 21 points to win most of the games you're going to find yourself in. The defense played well for the most part but the offense looked hapless most of the second half.

Just looked at the stats and our leading receiver was the RB with 63 yards on seven catches. Our next closest receiver had 43 yards on 3 catches. We had 0 receiving TD's.

That tells you everything you need to know about how bad the offense was.

glad to know everyone posting on this thread is into moral victories. how anyone can deny that Taylor looked like hot garbage tonight is beyond me. marginally competent QB play could have won us that game. From what I have seen of Schakel, yeah, he would have been better. Taylor did not connect on a single deep route.

I'm with you. If we get to games 3 or 4 and we're still losing with subpar QB play, I can't imagine why you wouldn't just put a guy in there who's a true passing QB and is going to play the next 3-4 years. Get him some experience. And Bell basically looks like a running back to me. If they want to get him more involved they should line him up in the backfield or as a slot receiver.

If we expect Taylor to win with downfield throws, we’re doomed. He diced up their D on the first drive with perimeter runs, which is really what we need to commit to. That’s clearly his best game. Even with those limitations, the Ball pick on his first throw and Yetts puking the ball on the grass when we could’ve gotten the lead were the game-defining plays. The Yetts fumble was a killer as that play was blocked beautifully and he likely scores or goes for 20 if he just hangs onto the ball.

Defense was utterly atrocious and looked inept in the first half. Credit, though, they made adjustments and clearly improved by leaps and bounds in the second half. I’m pissed that we were so disorganized on D to open the game.

I’d say the complete opposite, we all should drink, smoke pot, and wine during Eastern games. It eases the pain. Not enough, but somewhat.
It's a great combo mixed with video game football to see an EWU victory even if it's digital.

I can't help but feel like we could've won with better coaching...

I thought the EWU's coaching was superior to UIW's. Less penalties and a solid game plan. I do believe they could use the WRs better by playing more to their strengths. For example, you had Ulm running outs vs using his size by slants across the middle. Frankly, it was the lack of execution by the QB. Missed 3 deep passes to open receivers in first half. The fumble at the end was an absolute gut punch. OL performed well to their expectations. However, the run game production must increase.
