MISSOULA - University of Montana football coach Bobby Hauck announced Sunday night that he has dismissed cornerback Qwenton Freeman from the team for "not adhering to disciplinary guidelines" handed out to him earlier in the week.
Freeman, a 6-0, 190-pound junior cornerback from Pasadena, Calif., by way of the University of Arizona, was under strict orders to fully cooperate with law enforcement officers in any instance, as are all UM student athletes. Freeman is currently involved in the investigation of an alleged in California on June 2.
Early Sunday morning, Freeman was arrested by officers with the Missoula Police Department and booked on a charge of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, resulting from an incident outside a Missoula tavern.
"These are serious matters, and it is very disturbing," said UM Director of Athletics Jim O'Day. "At this point, we are following a zero tolerance policy, and Qwenton made a bad error in judgment."
