The roster has been updated on the UNC sight. A few names are NOT listed such as Cameron Dean but another one missing is Jace Davis; anyone got the scope on this?

Deen pussied out and transfered out to a JC in Cali instead of wanting to compete for a job. Jace was ineligible during the spring and I know he was taking classes this summer to hopefully get back on the field this fall. Lets hope he gets this done.

Ryland Widener isn't on the roster either. Does anyone know what's going on with him?

My understanding is that Widener is not coming back either; something about needing to makie up grades during the summer that would not be covered by scholarship $$...

Here's what I found for players NOT RETURNING (may not be 100% correct, but it's 90% correct...)

Interesting that I count as not returning:
10 Red-shirt Freshman & 7 Freshman
(out of a class of 21, that's > 80% for that one class!)
2 sophomores,
0 juniors,
0 seniors
(Of course I've excluded the graduating seniors)

What little I know:
Widener - definitely grades...
Fahina - off to LDS mission
Haverty - 2 year walk-on...maybe got tired of all work, no play ?? Also, had minor knee surgery recently
Deen - wanted to start and never did
Monson - lack of participation

The new coaching staff did make some cuts after spring ball, how many on this list are guys who were not invited back to the party?

I think a lot of those guys were walk-ons. Morton, Deen, Kraus, Schwindt, Fahina and Widener are the only scholarship guys. Unless some of these guys were too, I'm not sure. It's not good to see that many guys go, but it does free up some scholarships though.

Wasn't Morton supposed to be some stud?

Any coaching change will result in some turnover but if they were mostly walk ons it's not much of a surprise and if it opens up a couple scholarships that's not always a bad thing either. You don't want too much turn over, like Josh McDaniels or Taco Bell levels but some is to be expected.

Morton had too many knee injuries. Probably why he's not on the roster. We gotta get Jace back. He's our only all-conference player returning.

My kid told me that he's going to redshirt due to grades .... darn it!

Can you redshirt due to grades? I know he has a year to give but I thought you just lost a year if you have to sit for grades.

Yes, you get five years to play four seasons. Since Jace played as a freshman and soph, he can sit out one year, get his grades up, and still play two more.

But it's really too bad if he's not on the field this fall.

Jace Davis, John Eddy and Korey Askew represented the University of Northern Colorado football team on the Big Sky Conference’s First Team.

The league released the postseason recognition Tuesday. It is the first time UNC has had three players on the First Team.

Davis, a sophomore wide receiver, caught 53 passes for 992 yards, the seventh-most in school history, and seven touchdowns. Davis eclisped the 100-yard mark in three games this season and also threw a 30-yard touchdown against Eastern Washington University.
