You guys seem to jump around from candidate to candidate based on the most part off of emotion. Talk about offensive and defensive schemes, coaching philosophies and how that of your strong candidate will help our program win based on what we have. I would like to be persuaded to feel better about the situation as a whole.

It as been said we are close talent wise and I agree with that; translate who you think should get the job into the catagories I listed above. Do we have "Football People" on this board or just bandwagon fans?

Bring it, a good argument would make me feel a lot better!

I take offense to that. Nobody on this board is a bandwagon fan considering how bad this team has been for half a decade.

I honestly don't know enough about the coaches to be able to tell you what kind of offense or defense schemes they would run or more importantly which schemes would fit our current players.

To be honest, I am just happy to have someone new to inject energy into the program.

Well said Brian. Im pulling for Logan. I think we have some good candidates. I have been following UNC football before they were UNC. I feel bad for the students who have seen less victories in their 4 years then we used to win in some seasons.

Unlike in the NFL and the FBS I think its tough for us to really say yes I like this candidate due to they are from small schools and have a lot less TV exposure as the NFL and FBS. I do think us fans can say what we would like to see in a coach though. Like for me I've always felt like running the ball well and playing good defense is huge and what I like to see. Also I hope the new coach can find some of the under rated players here in the state at the high school level and bring them in here to help the team. Also have a solid hard working staff. And even bring in some FBS transfers from CU CSU and the surrounding area to help the team every now and then.

The comment about bandwagon fans is way off too. No way there are bandwagon fans on here.

Duly noted on the bandwagon fan remark I made but keep in mind I DID NOT call anyone a bandwagon fan; what I did was ask a question as to whether there were just bandwagon fans on the board. The obvious answer to that question is no and I'm glad to hear it!

That said, before backing a HC be careful of what you wish for b/c you just might get what you don't want from a "Football" stand point. As far as the only scheme answer football wise from uncbears8228, those are solid and valid things (running the ball and good defense) to wish for in order to win. But I believe you will have to have about 2 to 3 years of patience to win running the ball here. We just aren't currently equipped to have that be a dominant part of our attack and it will take 2 to 3 years of recruiting and grooming in order to get it. This year's recruiting class will no doubt be hurt by the delay in getting a coach in here...plus we just lost a very good OLine Coach that the current players were rallying around.

Still and all I say, Go Bears!

I'm a little tired of hearing about what a "great loss" Bedell was. The o-line was certainly not a strength of the team at any point this season. There are plenty of good o-line coaches around and I'm sure the new coach can find one.

If a coach really wanted to make a move to a more run oriented offense it can be done. It is more about committment and strategy than personnel. Not saying you don't need the personel but look at any of the academies and you can see how it can be done. Georgia Tech also made the move really quickly when they brought in a coach that wanted to do it.
