I think the players did a pretty good job today, especially on defense. The play calling on the other hand. What was with the - rush 4 but don't rush 4 and those 4 standing around still can't contain the QB? How many times did that call not work and they still didn't adjust? F'n' baffling.

Collins and co are hacks and don't deserve to be anywhere near a D-1 school except for when they coach the cupcake NAIA school that everyone forgets about after they get torched.

Was James Jones under the mistaken impression that Montana State was being quarterbacked by Michael Vick in his prime? Because that is the only QB you should be that scared of running the ball. Jones is usually bad at his job, but that was the most utterly gutless, cowardly display of coaching I have ever seen on a football field. He should be fired immediately.

At least we're only in 8th place in the Big Sky. Being in 9th place at this point of the season would be a bummer.

Nevermind, we are in 9th place.

I just have never seen anything like it. Properly rush 3 or 4 and then leave 1 or 2 players to spy the QB. Our DB's were doing a great job in coverage, give them a freakin' chance.

They were up 11 in the 3rd and I had to go someplace to come back and see they blew it... glad I missed it to be honest... I can only imagine the collapse.

Frustrating game. I don't remember a game I've watched where the two halves were so different. Defense was playing solid for the first half, then second half the Bobcats make the better adjustments and were running their QB more. The conversion on 3rd and 15 in the 4th QT with 1:00 left absolutely killed us. Collins alluded in the post-game interview we should have came after him a bit more and he sounded frustrated at the play calling on defense. James Jones must be feeling the pressure by now.

I see us maybe winning one more game against Cal Poly, so that puts us at only 3 wins. This coming from back-to-back winning seasons. I don't think anyone saw this much of a drop-off. Not sure if Collins will get renewed but if he comes back he needs to shake up the coaching staff.

From the Trib:
Collins and the UNC defense wanted to pressure Murray into throwing.

"It's not his strong suit," Collins said. "He proved us wrong, though, and scrambled and got the ball downfield. We wanted to mummy-rush him and keep him in the pocket. We probably should have turned loose and went after him a few times."

Holy hell? Are our coaches not making any changes during the game? WTF!

I thought it was going to be a very tough schedule from day 1 and at the time I would have been happy as hell to come out 6-5 again but its not going to happen

Looks like a 3 - 7 season to me. Not what we were expecting, but then again we have been here before. It might just be that we have really bad luck or we just might be a really bad football team. I still have hope that things will someday get better. I hope the basketball team has a better season and puts some excitement back in the athletic program here at UNC.

Go Bears!
