UNC (Predict the score)

What should the Cats expect? I watched some of their game yesterday against ISU, and I couldn't really tell how good they are. I do know that ISU is pretty dang bad. I can't believe that Jeff extended their coaches contract for two more years. I hope he knows what he is doing. One thing is that UNC is playing better than they were a couple of weeks ago. Their defense is pretty dang tough and their offense is improving. They have a QB who is decent. He has an above average arm and can run.

I too can't tell what to expect. I reviewed the stats for UNC and they have a decent rushing game and decent passing game (nothing spectacular, but decent). They also have a decent defense. They seem to be average across the board and not terrible or great in any aspects of the game. They have wins against San Diego and isu (lower case intentional), but have lost all their other games.
The one stat that did stand out to me is that they are outscored in the 2-4 quarters, but play even in the first quarter (at least in putting points on the board). That could reflect a couple of things: 1. that UNC is not making adjustments as the game progresses. 2. UNC is not that deep and doesn't compete when the subs come in. It is really hard to say as I have not seen them play at all. I
did note that they gave up a lot of yards to UNA in the passing game so my guess is that Higgins and the boys could have a big day.

Sagarin predictor has WSU as a 12 point favorite. If I gambled and you could find a place that let you bet on FSC games, I would put my money on WSU to cover the 12 points.

Wildcats defense and offense shines again, and for the 3rd straight week Weber holds thier opponant under 15 points.

Weber- 38
Northern Colorado- 14

Personally, I think the Sac offense is far better than the UNC offense, but the UNC defense is far better than the Sac defense, the game might end up being a low scoring affair. UNC did hold Eastern to 16 points (16-0 loss for the Bears).

No matter though. Weber has far to many offensive weapons, and the Cats defense is really beginning to shine. I think the Bears will make the same mistake that the Hornets made and focus to much on Smith, which opens up the passing game. In my opinion, Weber should come out throwing the ball against the Bears, and use that to open up the running game. I think UNC will be really tough for a couple of quarters, but Weber will wear them down. Weber's depth will prove too much for the Bears, but UNC is improving. My only worry about Saturdays game is that the team may overlook these bears in anticipation for next weeks game.

What I hope for is another complete, mistake-free game from the Wildcats on both sides of the ball, with no injuries, resulting in something like a 49-3 blowout. 8-)

It is possible if we continue to play like we have done for the past two weeks. On the other hand, we could revert to "Mistakes-R-Us" and struggle to win, as happened last year, but I do not think that will happen.

I don't think anyone, especially me, should under-estimate UNC. This is a decent team that, if given a window, could wreak some havoc on us if the Cats go to Greely focusing on a game two weeks away. If the same Cats we saw on Sat show up to play this week, then it wont be much of a game. But I do think UNC is progressing, give them a couple years.

Weber 42
UNC 17

OFFENSE WILL OVERPOWER THEM

DEFENSE WILL STIFLE THEM. LOOK FOR LINEHAN AND EASTMAN TO HAVE A COMING OUT PARTY!!!!

I hope I'm not overconfident, or that Weber isn't, but I have no doubt Weber easily wins this game. I just feel it. As I've said before, Weber wins when they don't turn the ball over. Weber is 10-0 this year and last when they win the turnover margin. And they are 13-1 (the only loss being to Utah) when Higgins has no more than 1 turnover. That said, Weber's talent is so much superior than N Colorado's that Weber survived 4 turnovers by Higgins last year and still won. It's the only time Weber has won when Higgins had more than 1 turnover. And it doesn't appear that N Colorado is any better this year. Plus, since the Montana St loss, Weber has been a different team. There was an article in the D News stating how the loss now appears to have been a good thing. That loss awakened a sleeping giant. With the attitude Weber now has, I don't think they will overlook this game, even with the UM game waiting. Go Cats!!

By the way, here is the link to that D News article. It also talks about the NFL scouts that have been to Weber's games this year. Good article.
