One Gold medal:

Freshman Evan Taylor won the 200 meters conference title.

Two Silver medals:

Junior Tyler Short earned all-conference honors for his second place finish in the 400 meter hurdles.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Shaylee Robinette, Jillian Hoblitt, Lauren Iseman and Ashley Foster placed second, breaking the school record from last year's championship.

:D :D :D Kudos UNC T&F :D :D :D

That is great. All of these student athletes work their tails off in and out of the classroom and it's nice to see them get rewarded.

Congrats to the athletes but can we talk about the teams the last few years? Under Galbraith - the men's and women's track and field teams have set the standard for poor finishes in the Big Sky. I don't believe we've ever finished above 7th. How about a coaching change? If we want quality athletes to come to UNC shouldn't we show we care enough about the program to get rid of a worthless coach???

I don't think we should get rid of him yet. The Men's team has some really solid sprinters and I know the distance team will start pulling its weight soon because there is a really solid Assistant Coach named John Gutierrez who has gotten the distance guys a huge step closer towards being competitive at the college level. If we can get just a few distance guys to score at the conference meet, which is very possible next year, then we finish in the middle of the pack and start building the reputation that will breed success.

sooo, coach's been here for 5+ years and you're saying keep him because he might be starting to build something?? Please!

Sure, why not? That's the strategy for football isn't it?

If the school had more $$ to recruit...perhaps more kids could/would consider UNC.
More kids = more/better possibilities = more team points.
Locally, most kids in T&F think that CU is where it's at for T&F. Or they're off to Texas, Florida...
Lets put Colorado on the map!!!
T&F recruiting is flawed (IMO) EX: one of this years newbies was completely over-looked as a candidate. Was told by the said coach that his "times weren't good enough to run at the collegiate level".
That kid went on to win 2nd in Big Sky Indoor T&F Champs, 1st in BS Outdoor Champs.
Culling talent...is a talent, then - to procure that talent. Some people have it, others do not.
That error in judgment would be one reason to agree with you on the head coach comment.
otherwise it's down to the almighty dollar.
Further: Female recruits are widely sought out, it appears, over the males. By and large receiving more available funds. (rumor has it)
With that said, coaches might be caught between a rock and a hard place.
Are more dollars spent on any particular sport over another? Baseball? Football? Basketball? (IDK)
