UNC v. CU -- Will it ever happen?

CU beat CSU in Ft Collins by 5 yesterday.

UNC lost to CSU in FC by 7.

How would UNC stack up against CU?

Why can't we even get this game?

Given the Tad Boyle connection, I would think we could, especially this year when UNC can at least compete (with Barden and Unruh gone next season, not so much).

Boyle left UNC for the bigger program; it would be nice if he would throw a bone down from Boulder to help his former club.

P.S. I enjoyed making the NCAA Tournament even more because neither Boyle's CU team nor CSU made it that year -- no doubt *they* were watching us. And we were close till the 2nd half when Kawhi Leonard, who now starts for the reigning Western Conf Champ Spurs, just killed us.

He said he would not play UNC 'till his UNC recruits graduated. Seems kind of arrogant to me, as if to say "I don't want to beat my old players" like it's a foregone conclusion that CU would win.

Thanks Brian. I hadn't heard that.

Svihovec is Boyle's recruit and will be back next season. So maybe in 2015-2016 then. We'll see.

I don't think it's that. I think it's more along the lines of not wanting to play guys he recruited out of a form of respect. I'm sure there are parts of him who has some regret of recruiting these kids to play for him in Greeley and then leaving, even though he made a smart career choice for him and his family. I don't think it would exactly be a fun thing for him to play against his old guys.

I have nothing to base this on, but I have a feeling when they do begin to play again in the near future, it will be one of those deals where UNC plays in Boulder twice, and CU comes to Greeley once in one of those Two-For-One deals. Boyle generally will play a couple non-conference road games in gyms of both big schools or smaller area schools. Think he would be willing for a homecoming of sorts in Butler-Hancock. But please UNC, for the love of God, please try and schedule these in-state games when your students aren't on winter break so you could have a very challenging, fun environment.

No, they're coming to Greeley. And they will be stomped. They will forfeit halfway thru because it would be a joke to continue.

Pulled this off of page 2 on the board. Looks like a great chance for a Bear victory. CU got beat by Wyoming by 25 plus not long ago.

Any prediction?

I am cautiously optimistic for an upset. We have played Wyoming and CSU that are both pretty darn good teams and both were winnable! I think we will hold our own against CU as long as we do not get intimdated and make the shots, play exceptional defense and make the damn free throws. GO BEARS

Update, CSU 62 Colorado 60
Based on the box score it looked like both teams took a half off each as far as field goal % goes.
The game is a lot of fun when your shot are falling, frustrating as heck when they don't.

Go bears!!

I think it will be close, but our foul shots don't go down. My prediction is a something like Buffs 60, Bears 58.

I think Tevin set a new record (which he previously owned) for most dribbles in a single possession and most dribbles in single game. Pass the ball. This team has alot of talent but in my opinion they have some selfishness that they need to address, and its coming from everyone. I think they have a chance to be really good though. Love how hard they play.

First of all welcome to the board, I'm not sure how long you have been watching based on your user name and date of joining. Regarding your post I have to admit I wasn't able to get the Pac 12 feed so I had to listen to the call. Regarding your post it doesn't matter who's running the point. The lack of pass is a systemic problem due to ther motion offense they run not the individual.

If you look at the game stats, you will see the Bears only had 10 assists on 24 made shots. Tevin had 4 assists which is 40% of that total. Last year we shook our heads at Wilson and Spence, this year it's at Svihovec. When defenses can push your offense outside the 3 pt line you are left with the dribble.

Good observation, missguided frustration to me this is a flaw in the motion offense that coach Hill has ran for two years. :twocents:

First off, thanks for the welcome. Been watching for a few years now, just never knew this board was here.

I like Tevin. I think he has a lot of talent and he seems to know the game and know the system really well. He plays hard every game (which I cant say about everyone) and everyone seems to trust him on both ends. I would assume he is going through a little bit of a transition being more of a go-to-guy this year with Tate and Derrick leaving. IMO Tevin doesn't need to score for this team to be good but it seems like he probably thinks he does. Ive always loved how he attacks, one of the best guards in the league at getting in the paint, but he gets tunnel vision every now and then and only sees the rim. Capable of leading the conference in assists this year but I'de be shocked if it turns out that way.

As for Coach Hill, I cant figure this guy out. It seems like every year we start off running motion or a ball-screen heavy type of offense and by the time conference rolls around, we just run set plays for our two best players. And on the other end, we start out pressing almost every game in the non-con, but i cant remember the last BS tournament we played in where we pressed. You can tell what he would like to do with these guys but for some reason he changes back to his old stuff every year. I get that you have to adjust as the season goes on but the teams that win consistently in this league (Weber and Montana) do the same thing for the most part every year and those guys are just forced to execute. I realize im the new guy here and all I've done is criticize so far but Im just voicing my opinion. After all, isn't that what this board is for anyway......

Your opinion is well thought out and very welcome. The football side of this place resembles the UNC Bears football program, a bloody mess.

Welcome again, IMO your analisis is pretty spot on. Not sure if you have looked at the other threads on the board but you have summarized nicely many of my points I've tried making the past two years. Thanks for your input.

Good Luck Bears
