UND and UNCO

Guards gotta rebound. Braxton and Chapman were having to protect the rim on the drives by Spight and Davis and this leaves them out of place for the defensive rebound. Rahe said as much in the pre-game.
I thought Richardson did a great job on Spight. Spight put up 41 on Mont St and 32 just a couple of weeks ago. Last night he was 5-22. Some of that was from Braxton and Chapman helping out down low, but near the end of the game and in OT UNCO was trying to force a switch to get Harding on Spight instead of Richardson. I think Richardson's length bothered Spight on his perimeter shooting.

The fact that they were sending their guards to the offensive glass tells me that they had no respect for our ability to run on them or to keep them from the glass. If we play them in Reno, and it could happen, I hope that will be a point of emphasis for our guys. If teams are going to do that, you need to make them pay for it. :coffee:

BTW, I watched another BSC game that our one, two, five, whistle guy officiated. He was comically horrible in that game as well. He and the slender dark haired ref, that we had in Cedar City, were the only two bad refs I've seen all year. I think it is just a few bad actors who are giving the officiating a black eye. As long as they get rid of the bad ones and bring in new blood each year, things should improve. Sure, you will always have some inexperienced guys, and sure, no ref will ever be perfect. However, if you don't make an effort to get rid of the bad apples, the whole bunch is going to stink of the rot. :coffee:

Yes, we got whacked on the O boards again. I was furious watching ZERO board crashing. That could have meant the game at times. Man, what an ugly game that was. I know we don't have a Joel but I just hate to see us concede every O board opportunity.....just my old school training. ; )

that was amazing the way we got destroyed on the boards. offensive was like 19 for them and 2 for us. thats basically 17 turnovers more and still win. yikes.

i feel bad for unc to lose that game. they are 0-12 in ogden....but even worse was i think it was 2009 when UNC had a 7 pt lead in ogden with 45 ticks left. we got it to OT and won. LOL that was when we had davis & mccoy

Weber is a feeble offensive rebounding team — last in the league at 5.8 per game, and 19 percent on ORB. I guess it’s a good thing the Wildcats shoot so well.

I think our biggest problem is that all our bigs are constantly going for the block which puts them out of position for a rebound when the opposing team misses. The Bears however were always crashing the boards. Northern Colorado probably should have won that game, gotta give credit where credit is due though, Weber fought through the adversity and the deficit to come out on top in one of our coldest shooting nights I can remember in recent history.

Offensive rebound struggles aside it was a good team effort to stay focused and get the game into OT. Like everyone has said we start playing our best ball in Jan-Feb. Should be fun.
I am excited for the UM game on the 1st. Sadly it wont mean anything tournament wise but still should be a good test for us and a good game.
