Doesn't get any easier for us next Saturday. UNI Panthers are 1-0 (bye week on Sat). They beat Iowa State week one. If we can fix our "dumb" mistakes, we have the talent to win this game.

UNI didn't have a great record last season but they have a very good young QB who is capable of putting up some nice numbers. Here's to hoping our D can make the adjustments it needs to.

From the look of the remaining schedule, and based on events thus far, I do not see this team doing any better than 2-10. Quite possibly we have already had our win for the season, but I do hope not.

Saturdays game likely to get ugly, fast.

How is this game going to be spun is my question? Where is this team right now, does anybody really know? I read quotes by the HC and wonder but then I see the talent and experience and draw seperate conclusions. They loose badly what's said? The keep it close and loose, what's said? They pull out the W, I told you so! I just can't see it. It can be any of the three given the caliber of coaches as much as the caliber of these players. Again i ask, who are these Bears?

I am not sure who they are either! I see hot spots but not sure when they are going to put it all together. UNI fans think we are pretty bad and will roll us
I still have hope!

I'll play with the trolls.

What qualifies you to evaluate the quality of the talent of the players on the team? Are you a coach or a scout? Somehow I doubt it. Are you a former college player or even a high school player? I doubt you played a down of football in your life. Are you even a college or high school graduate? Your grammar and spelling answer that question. Have you been to any of the games or to watch any of the practices? Doubtful. It's all about trolling boards like this to get a response.

These Bears have had one poor game and if it wasn't for a few costly mistakes they would have won that game going away. Did anybody really expect them to beat Wyoming? Of course not, but they gave them a very respectable game in my opinion. The "high powered" Wyoming offense only managed to score 3 touchdowns all day. Again, take away the two pick 6s and the sky would be falling in Wyoming. This was a team that bragged that they were going to put up 100 on the Bears and had delusions of a conference championship after they gave Nebraska a game.

The Bears will win more than 2 games. The doom and gloom so early in the season is pathetic. Looking at the schedule I see 4 games that are should wins - Sac State, Idaho State, UC Davis, and North Dakota; 2 games that are winnable - SUU and Cal Poly; 3 games that have a strong chance of a loss- UNI, Montana State, and Northern Arizona. Yes, I know Cal Poly is a power house, but they aren't as good as last year and playing in Greeley on November 23 will be a lot different than playing in the temperate California weather.

Why don't you all wait until the end of the season before you start talking all the trash about the Bears. Try being fans instead of a$$e$.

Apparently 303Bear had a bad day and needs to resort to name calling to feel better... There... There... It will be all right.... We trolls will tell you a bedtime story about the Big Bad Bears beating up on evil Cal Poly and how good wizard Collins and his magic coaches will wave their wands and produce a winning football team... Go to sleep little 303Bear and dream of gridiron triumphs at Nottingham Field.... At least the ones that happened before the Wicked Queen Norton and Lord Hank Brown moved DII national champion winning UNC to Division I and cast a spell on the valiant Bears.... Sleep tight...

Miguel, you are oh so right. Thank you for the fairy tale before bed. You have straightened my life out with your prose. I shall start living in the glories of long, long ago and stop aspiring for bigger and greater things.

NDSU, who UNC used to have a lively rivalry with back in the good old NCC D-II days, made the move to FCS right after UNC, if I remember correctly....

I see this morning that NDSU will be hosting ESPNs college game day in Fargo this Saturday, Lee Corso and all. You see NDSU made the commitments from the start, funding, facilities, coaches, and now they are two time FCS national champions, with annual wins over FBS schools, and ESPN is recognizing their incredible transformation from the top of D-II to the top of the FCS.

And we get reminded again that UNC could not even win the RMAC.

To me, that really puts our plight into full perspective.

Parents, girl friends, and significant others, we feel your pain here, and understand your loyalty. :thumb:

You know, I thought we were at the bottom of the barrel a few years ago, but we seem to have managed to crack right thru the bottom and find more bs. What a shamble we are in. We have no AD and seemingly not one in sight and a football team that seems as lost as we fans. NDSU made all the right moves and sadly we tried to take the shortcut and are on a road filled with potholes, which I blame on a lack of solid leadership ! Please, somebody give us some hope soon !

Honestly it was the lose against CSU P that matters most to me. It seemed like we had turned the corner and we were starting to be competitive again after the end of last season. Then...bam! Back to losing to teams we should beat. CSU P has 40 less scholarships than UNC and plays in a much worse conference. It was like taking 6 steps forward and 10 steps back.

That being said, we still have most of the season ahead of us. I still see us as being better than ISU, Weber and maybe UC Davis. But we need to make progress, not taking steps back (like losing to D2 programs).

Here we are again.......
303Bear, it has been my observation that the few intrepid participants on this board are loyal and sincere fans of our Bears. The difficulty has come when the institution that we all care about fails to provide the student athletes who have committed themselves to this program with the resources needed to be successful.
It is about fan loyalty at some point, however I would suggest you take some time to read the cumulative posts of each individual......I believe that you will find anyone who has had the interest and taken the time to participate on the board has over time shown their loyalty. Most have shown their loyalty through $$ contributions to the program. Some have even shown their loyalty through $$$$$ contributions.
I can only speak for myself....I have been critical of the hiring of this head coach (in lower case intentionally).
I have called into question his readiness for this job, but most importantly, I have REAL concerns regarding his integrity in his position.
I can tell you the history of how wins are handled....."the players have finally bought in".
I can tell you the history of how losses are handled...."the players did not do what they are coached to do".
Losses have brought flagrant throwing of players under the proverbial bus.
With all due respect 303Bear, we must ask ourselves....how long will we sit and talk about/admire a problem before we are willing to act upon it as a problem?

Well said! Needless to say the countdown to change has begun. People like 303bear are a non factor. We're all looking forward to seeing new leadership within the athletic department and especially the reality of a strong football staff/program to follow.

This.

I hope they prove me wrong as well, but I don't see this team winning but maybe one more game if any.

The CSUP loss still makes me fume. Not only was it pathetic, but embarrassing too. I get it they loss and we need to move on. Yadda Yadda. It wasn't the fact they loss, but how they lost. That's what concerns me big time. Also the fact that Collins brushed it off like it wasn't a big thing. UNC has lost to two lower division teams in the past 3 years. :ohno: :ohno:

As for the UNI game, UNC is probably going to get lit the eff up. 100-0

I agree 100% I'm wondering how they can beat UNI (who has a win against a BCS team and comes in at #7) when they can't even beat a D2 school that has 24 scholarships. :ohno:

Collins may brush it off but fans who have spent lots of money on UNC and WANT to support the program cannot

For once I won't point this game on the coaches. The players lost this one. Too many dropped balls by the receivers, blown assignments on defense and zero running game.

I liked what I saw in the first half from the defense. They held one of the best running backs in the country to 18 yards at half. Our stupid field goal kicker sucks, and if that weren't the case we're talking about a different ball game.

That one "win" doesn't count since we might as well have been playing a high school team. In my book, and according to the RPI, coach collins had a perfect defeated season. Speaking of RPI, I haven't bothered to look, but I'm confident we finished out the season dead last.
